Live
When performed during the Self Destruct warm up shows in 1994, the song was played very similar to the album version. The only noticeable difference is the much louder guitars to the point where the famous The Downward Spiral motif in the chorus can be heard clearly. The way it was played in 1994 is similar to how it is played 2007.

Lyrics
He sewed his eyes shut because he is afraid to see
He tries to tell me what I put inside of me
He’s got the answers to ease my curiosity
He dreamed a god up and called it Christianity

Your god is dead and no one cares
If there is a Hell I will see you there

He flexed his muscles to keep his flock of sheep in line
He made a virus that would kill off all the swine
His perfect kingdom of killing, suffering and pain
Demands devotion atrocities done in his name

Your god is dead and no one cares
Drowning in his own hypocrisy
And if there is a Hell I will see you there
Burning with your god in humility
Will you die for this?
Username Issue
Haha! I was surprised that no one has asked me if I really am Aaron yet. It was just the first short thing I could think of while signing up. My new username will be "spitonit" (without quotes of course). The editing while onstage thing got a good laugh out of me.
Is there a way to import all the music-related templates? If yes, that would be a whole lot simpler than having to copy and paste from wikipedia. Heroicraptor 00:22, 15 February 2007 (CST)
Hey, no problem, I didn't see it so it doesn't matter. ^_^. I was wondering though. I could post video download links for some concerts in the bootleg section. Like I have 10 songs from the first concert. But there FLV and I did not upload them. There actually from YouTube and I'm getting all the download links from KeepVid. --Bleedthrough 09:17, 21 February 2007 (PST)
About
"Burn" is a song created for the Natural Born Killers Soundtrack, which was produced by Trent. It is a very intense track containing lyrics with anti-social and angry themes.

Appearances
Burn was included as a bonus track on the Deluxe edition of The Downward Spiral. It also appears on the live DVD Beside You In Time.

The Video
The video for "Burn" is similar to the various screen projections used throughout Nine Inch Nails tours. Images of people, nature, and general destruction and decay and interspersed with images from the film and Trent singing. The video incorporates clips from Natural Born Killers and is filmed in such a way the the video mimics the film.

Performed Live
The song has become a staple of the live performances. It features heavy synthesizer parts that render the intro almost unrecognizable.

Lyrics
This world rejects me
This world threw me away
This world never gave me a chance
This world gonna have to pay

Well I don't believe in your institutions
I did what you wanted me to
I'm like the cancer in your system
I've got a little surprise for you

Something inside of me
Has opened up its eyes
Why did you put it there?
Did you not realize
This thing inside of me
It screams the loudest sound
Sometimes I think I could

Burn

I look down from at where you're standing
Flock of sheep out on display
With all your lies bumped up around you
I can take it all away

Something inside of me
Has opened up its eyes
Why did you put it there?
Did you not realize
Something inside of me
It screams the loudest sound
Sometimes I think I could

I'm gonna burn this whole world down

I never was a part of you

Burn

I was a soldier
I am corruption
I am the agent
Of your destruction
I am perversion
Sick with desire
I am your future
Swallowed up in fire

About
Jeordie White (previously known as "Twiggy Ramirez") joined the Nine Inch Nails touring band in 2005 for the With Teeth era. Jeordie doubles bass and guitar duties during live performances and has helped with in studio work. He and Aaron co-star in a web comic known as Squires Of Dimness.

Projects
Marilyn Manson
Jeordie was most famous as the bass player and major contributor to the band Marilyn Manson. He was a responsible for writing a large portion of Marilyn Manson songs.

A Perfect Circle
In 2002 Jeordie replaced Paz Lenchantin as the bassist for A Perfect Circle. In an interesting exchange of members, he was recruited with ex-Nine Inch Nails bassist, Danny Lohner, who was assuming guitar duties in APC, and joined drummer Josh Freese, who now acts as NIN's touring drummer. Jeordie contributed to the writing, recording and touring phases of A Perfect Circle.

Desert Sessions
Jeordie is one of the many artists to take part in Josh Homme's Desert Sessions, which is best described as a drug-tinged superstar jam-band retreat. Many artists have collaborated on these sessions, and they have seen numerous releases.

Goon Moon
Jeordie also takes part in this band with Zach Hill (Team Sleep), and Chris Goss (Kyuss, Queens Of The Stone Age producer).

About
Aaron North was recruited as part of the live band in 2005. He has a rather unique sloppy playing style which has caused him to receive much criticism. Before joining Nine Inch Nails, he was a part of the Los Angeles based punk band The Icarus Line. He is the main character of the web comic Squires Of Dimness.

While many believe that Aaron is homosexual due to comments he makes to interviewers, he is more than likely Bisexual because he has been seen with female groupies after shows.

He was known as Aaron Icarus while he was a part of The Icarus Line.

Projects
The Icarus Line
Aaron was one of the original members of this band from Hollywood, CA and played on all their releases up until the 2004 album "Penance Soiree". After the release of that album and its subsequent touring, Aaron left to join Nine Inch Nails. The Icarus Line released one more EP before breaking up.

The Icarus Line was notoriously wild and had numerous confrontations with the law, as well as with other bands. This includes being banned from various high class L.A. clubs for drunken remarks from vocalist Joe Cardamone and destruction to venue equipment by Aaron.

During the bands early years, they were known as the "Red & Black Attack" due to their outfits. They dropped the name after releasing their first album, "Mono". They band kept the look, however. Aaron's signature look involves wearing red and black at NIN shows, with a red hankey in his back pocket. This gesture is "hanky-code" for the sexual act of fisting. It is not known whether Aaron is aware of this or not.

Buddyhead
A "project of sheer boredom" of Aaron North and Travis Keller. Buddyhead is a record label that is infamous for it's gossip section that frequently features phone numbers of celebrities such as Fred Durst and Courtney Love. The gossip section also frequently slams Axl Rose of Guns & Roses fame. The members of Nine Inch Nails also receive a lot of attention, but not in a negative fashion. Buddyhead are also known for their somewhat insane antics such as spray painting "$uckin' Dick$" on the tour bus of another band and even breaking into the Interscope Records building to steal the famous Fred Durst baseball cap and selling it on eBay.

Incidents
Stevie Ray Vaughan
In 2002 during a show with The Icarus Line at the Hard Rock Cafe in Austin, Texas, Aaron smashed a protective case with a mic stand containing a guitar that belonged to Stevie Ray Vaughan. He was escorted out by security before he could plug in the guitar.

With Teeth Tour Mic-Stand Incident
In 2006, Aaron North and the rest of the band were faced with a lawsuit from a venue security guard named Mark LaVoie who claimed that North "violently and intentionally" attacked him with a mic stand. The suit was dropped.

Aaronnorthhttps://www.nin.wiki/index.php?title=Squires_Of_Dimness&diff=4812Squires Of Dimness2007-02-24T19:29:53Z
Aaronnorth:

Squires Of Dimness is a web comic drawn by Anne Tai that revolves around the daily routines of Aaron North, Jeordie White, Alessandro Cortini and Jerome Dillion. While Trent is mentioned several times during the comic, he is never shown.

Characters
Aaron North
Aaron is the main character of Squires Of Dimness. He is shown with an immense love for ice cream and his hanky. He strongly dislikes coconuts; even just the taste of one. He is drawn very short compared to the rest of the band. When the comic was presented to him during an interview and was asked to identify the people drawn, all Aaron said was "Hey, I'm not that short!".

Jeordie White
Jeordie is portrayed as the realist of the band. He often thinks things through in an attempt to make the perfect choice. This often backfires, however. He has a secret obsession with dancing and singing "I'm Too Sexy" to his mirror. He shares Aaron's love for ice cream.

Alessandro Cortini
Alessandro, or "Ally" as he is referred to in the comic, is heavily reliant on Italian culture. He is often seen eating some sort of pasta or yelling in Italian. He has really small, beady eyes. (perhaps a way to tell him and Jeordie apart due to their similar look.)
He owns a "Pear" laptop which is an obvious parody of Mac computers. He dislikes ice cream, but loves coconut.

Jerome Dillon
Jerome makes few appearances in Squires Of Dimness. When he is featured, he is portrayed as very laid back and casual. His personality is somewhat of a mix between Alessandro and Jeordie.

With Teeth (also known as Halo 19 or WITH_TEETH) is the fifth full-length studio album by Nine Inch Nails, released in 2005. It spawned three singles, The Hand That Feeds, Only, and Every Day Is Exactly The Same, four tour legs, and much celebration for Trent's sobriety.

Themes
With Teeth, unlike most Nine Inch Nails albums, does not have a unified concept and deals with a variety of themes. Trent Reznor wrote the album after overcoming undisclosed addictions and settling legal issues with his former manager, John A. Malm, Jr. Trent seemingly gained a new awareness of world issues, and showed this by speaking out against the US Government, as well as becoming a spokesperson for PETA. Some songs seem to deal with addiction(With Teeth, Sunspots), while others have a more political intent(The Hand That Feeds, Right Where It Belongs).
Lyrics
Breeze still carries the sound
Maybe I’ll disappear
Tracks will fade in the snow
You won’t find me here

Ice is starting to form
Ending what had begun
I am locked in my head
With what I’ve done
I know you tried to rescue me
Didn’t let anyone get in
Left with a trace of all that was
And all that could have been

Please
Take this
And run far away
Far away from me
I am
Tainted
The two of us
Were never meant to be
All these
Pieces
And promises and left behinds
If only I could see
In my
Nothing
You meant everything
Everything to me
Gone fading everything
And all that could have been

Please
Take this
And run far away
Far as you can see
I am
Tainted
And happiness and peace of mind
Were never meant for me
All these
Pieces
And promises and left behinds
If only I could see
In my
Nothing
You meant everything
Everything to me
About
Aaron North was recruited as part of the live band in 2005.

Past and current Nine Inch Nails members have gone on to work on other projects, which swap musicians like there is no tomorrow.

A Perfect Circle
A Perfect Circle was formed in 1999 by Billy Howerdel, a guitar tech for NIN, Tool, and Smashing Pumpkins (he bears some resemblance to Billy Corgan). Although Howerdel had originally envisioned having a female vocalist, Maynard James Keenan offered his vocal abilities to the project after hearing some demos. Danny Lohner, Jeordie White, and Josh Freese are among the other members. APC opened for NIN during Fragility v2.0 in 2000.

Puscifer
Maynard James Keenan's side project, Puscifer, has 2 officially released songs: "REV 22:20" and "The Undertaker (Renholdër Mix)" on the Underworld soundtracks. A remix of the former, "REV 22:20 (REV 4:20 Mix)" by Charlie Clouser, was on the Saw II soundtrack. Further work is in progress with Danny Lohner, Lustmord, and others.

nearLY
nearLY is Jerome Dillon's solo project. The album reminder (2005) is inspired by Dillon's recurring dream.

Guns N' Roses
Robin Finck and Josh Freese have played for Guns N' Roses.

Filter
Filter was formed by Richard Patrick after his departure from NIN. They have 3 albums.

Army of Anyone
Army of Anyone is the new Filter, with Richard Patrick and the old members of Stone Temple Pilots. Their first record came out late 2006.

Tweaker
Chris Vrenna's electronic/jazz project Tweaker performed the Doom 3 title theme instead of NIN. Tweaker has 2 full-length albums, with a new one set for 2007.

The Damning Well
The Damning Well is a rock band comprising several NIN members: Richard Patrick on vocals, Danny Lohner on bass, and Josh Freese on drums, as well as Wes Borland of Limp Bizkit on guitar. So far, they have only one released song, "Awakening", on the Underworld soundtrack (2003). The rest of the album they have recorded has no signs of ever being released.

Black Light Burns
As the successor to The Damning Well, Black Light Burns also includes Danny Lohner on guitar/keyboards/sound design and Josh Freese on drums. However, like NIN, this is mainly Wes Borland's project in the studio, with the other musicians serving for the live component.

Queens Of The Stone Age
Queens Of The Stone Age opened for NIN during the winter leg of the With Teeth arena tour. Dave Grohl has played for both bands in the studio. Reznor has provided guest vocals for QOTSA's 2007 record, Era Vulgaris.

Down In It was the first single for the album Pretty Hate Machine and the third track on the disc. It is said to be the first song that Trent Reznor ever wrote under the name Nine Inch Nails and is a rare treat to hear live. Following the Down In It single release, a music video was made.
Inspiration
In a 1994 radio broadcast biography of Reznor, it was said that Down In It was inspired by a relationship that had then recently ended for him with a woman named Krissy.

Reznor has openly admited that this song is basically his version of Skinny Puppy's "Dig It"

Appearances
Down In It appears in various versions on the follwing releases:
Halos
*Down In It
*Pretty Hate Machine
* Head Like a Hole
*Closure

Other
*Purest Feeling - non-official
*Purest Feeling II - non-official

Versions
Down In It
Appears on Purest Feeling as the last track, differing from its offical counterparts as that it has an extended intro with strange screams and odd static. It also includes about 1 minute and 8 seconds of distorted clippings of the song at the end as a finish to the album. Musically it's extremely close to the (Demo) version from the Head Like A Hole US single.

Down In It (Demo)
Appears on Head Like A Hole (US) as the last track, it's extremely similar to the Purest Feeling version, except that it lacks the long intro and all the extra layering of it's Purest Feeling counterpart as well as the distorted outro. Most likely it's the definitive "original version" of Trent Reznor's very first song as Nine Inch Nails.

(Demo II)
Appears on the Purest Feeling II bootleg. It's simply the (Skin) version from Pretty Hate Machine with an unadulterated version of the Terrible Lie intro tacked onto the end which fades out.

(Demo III)
Appears on the Purest Feeling II bootleg. Almost exactly the same as the Purest Feeling version, simply lacking the extra layering and sound effects as well as the distorted outtro, though it does retain the extended drumbeat intro and is probably the version the Purest Feeling version was based upon

(Demo IV)
Appears on the Purest Feeling II bootleg. It's an odd version with Trent whispering a good portion of his vocals an odd beat set compared to the others. It also includes faux-Oriental sounding synths which are noticably absent in any of the other versions of the song

Down In It (Skin)
The mix from the Down In It single and later chosen to be the mix that appeared on Pretty Hate Machine

Down In It (Shred)
A mix that appears on both the Down In It and Head Like A Hole singles. It's basically retains the original song with an extended intro and a long instrumental area that makes up the entire latter half of the song, considered the "extended single version" of the song by some.

Down In It (Singe)
A mix that appears on both the Down In It and Head Like A Hole singles. It's a mostly instrumental "dub" mix of the song with minimal vocals and strange warping and mixing of the beats with heavy bass emphasis. It should be noted that this mix is actually 18 seconds longer on the Head Like A Hole (US) single than it was on the Down In It single. The reason for this is unknown, though it's probably due to the time constraints imposed on Vinyl singles compared to a full sized LP Maxi Single.

Music Video
"Down In It" was the first Nine Inch Nails video. It was directed by Eric Zimmerman and Benjamin Stokes, who also directed "Head Like A Hole." The video depicts Reznor running through downtown Cleveland and climbing to the roof of a building, where he falls to his death. Bandmates Richard Patrick and Chris Vrenna discover the body days later.

This was the first video to be met with controversy. To film the shots of lifeless Reznor, he was covered with cornstarch to create the illusion of decay and cameras were tied to heavy-duty ballons that were tied down. During the filming of these scenes, one of the balloons broke free and took the camera with it, drifting some 200 miles before being found by a farmer. The camera was turned over to local police who, upon seeing the raw video footage, assumed it was a snuff film and the FBI was called in to investigate. The incident was even reported on "Hard Copy" and recalled in an interview for SPIN magazine. Because MTV and its US affiliates were uncomfortable with the video's subject matter, all scenes that depict Reznor's body lying on the ground behind the building were deleted.

Performed Live
As of Fragility 2.0, Reznor had stated that he didn't like the song as much as he used to, but during the later legs of the With Teeth Tour, it seemed as if he's changed his mind about the song, playing it more as the tour progressed. The song usually features a lot of destruction from Trent towards the end.

Lyrics
Kinda like a could I was up way up in the sky and I was feeling some feelings you wouldn’t believe
Sometimes I can’t believe them myself and I decided I was never coming down
Just then a tiny little dot caught my eye it was just about too small to see
But I watched it way too long and that dot was pulling me down

I was up above it
Now I’m down in it

Well shut up so what what does it matter now
I was swimming in the haze now I crawl on the ground
And everything I never liked about you is kind of seeping into me
Try to laugh about it now but isn’t it funny how everything works out
(“I guess the joke’s on me,” she said)

I was up above it
Now I’m down in it

I used to be so big and strong
I used to know my right from wrong
I used to never be afraid
I used to be somebody
I used to have something inside
Now just this hole that’s open wide
I used to want it all
I used to be somebody

I’ll cross my heart and hope to die but the needle’s already in my eye
And all the world’s weight is on my back and I don’t even know why
And what I used to think was me is just a fading memory
I looked him right in the eye and said “goodbye”

I was up above it
Now I’m down in it
Aaronnorthhttps://www.nin.wiki/index.php?title=Jeordie_White&diff=4184Jeordie White2007-02-22T08:13:38Z
Aaronnorth:

About
Last is the 3rd track on 1992's Broken EP. It is extremely guitar-oriented and features an abrasive vocal performance from Trent Reznor.

"Last", despite being on the 1992 release Broken, was not played live until 2007/02/10 in Libson, Portugal, the first show of the 2007 European tour. It was the second song in the set, following Mr. Self Destruct.

Lyrics
Gave up trying to figure it out my head got lost along the way
Worn out from giving it up my soul I pissed it all away
Still stings these shattered nerves
Pigs we get what pigs deserve
I’m going all the way down I’m leaving today

Come come on you’ve gotta fill me up
Come come gotta let me inside of you
Come come come on you’ve gotta fix me up
Come come gotta let me inside of you

Still feel it all slipping away but it doesn’t matter anymore
Everybody’s still chipping away but it doesn’t matter anymore
Look though these blackened eyes
You’ll see ten thousand lies
My lips may promise but my heart is a whore

Come come come on you’ve gotta fill me up
Come come gotta let me inside of you
Come come come on you’ve gotta fix me up
Come come gotta let me get through to you

This isn’t meant to last
This is for right now

I know it’s all getting away and it comes to me as no surprise
I know what’s coming to me is never going to arrive
Fresh blood through tired skin
New sweat to drown me in
Dress up this rotten carcass just to make it look alive

Come come come on you’ve gotta fill me up
Come come gotta let me inside of you
Come come come on you’ve gotta fix me up
Come come gotta let me get through to you

This isn’t meant to last
This is for right now
I wish I could put the blame on you

I want you to make me
I want you to take me
I want you to break me
Then I want you to throw me away
"Starfuckers, Inc." is the sixth song on the right disc of The Fragile.

It has been speculated that this is a parody of Marilyn Manson and his style of life.

Lyrics
My god sits in the back of the limousine
My god comes in a wrapper of cellophane
My god pouts on the cover of the magazine
My god's a shallow little bitch trying to make the scene

I have arrived and this time you should believe the hype
I listened to everyone now I know that everyone was right
I'll be there for you as long as it works for me
I play a game
It's called insincerity

Starfuckers
Starfuckers
Starfuckers, Inc.
Starfuckers

I am every fucking thing and just a little more
I sold my soul but don't you dare call me a whore
And when I suck you off not a drop will go to waste
It's really not so bad you know once you get past the taste, yeah
(Asskisser)

Starfuckers
Starfuckers
Starfuckers, Inc.
Starfuckers

All our pain
How did we ever get by without you?
You're so vain
I bet you think this song is about you
Don't you?
Don't you?
Don't you?
About
Gave Up is the 6th track off the 1992 Broken EP. It continues the EP's musical themes of being loud and aggressive, as well as showing themes of nihilism, self-loathing, and chaos in the lyrics.

Appears On
Gave up appears in some form on the following albums:
Song Credits
*Production: Flood, Trent Reznor

Music Video
There are two videos for "Gave Up:" a performance video directed by Jon Reiss ("Happiness In Slavery"), and the finale to the Broken Movie, directed by Peter Christopherson.

The video directed by Reiss, as stated earlier, is a performance video. It features the band (Reznor, Richard Patrick, Chris Vrenna, and James Woolley) along with Marilyn Manson performing the song in a studio at the notorious Tate Mansion.

The video directed by Christopherson is the finale to the Broken Movie. The victim is strung up to the ceiling and burned and beaten. He is then taken down and tied to a board, where the killer takes a chainsaw to the victim's appendages. The killer unmasks himself, revealing his identity in the victim's final moments. After having his way with the dying victim, the killer cuts out the victim's heart and eats it. All the while, Reznor can be seen on the television singing the song. Intercut with the violence is footage of various body parts in freezers and the fridge, a police officer (played by either Patrick or Robert Patrick) coming into the crime scene, and a crowd of rubbernecking bystanders.

Performed Live
Gave Up has seen regular playing time in live shows since it's debut in 1994. When performed live, the high pitched "smashed-up" chorus is pre-recorded with the band members lightly whispering over it.

Lyrics
Perfect little dream the kind that hurts the most
Forgot how it feels well almost
No one to blame always the same
Open my eyes wake up in flames

It took you to make me realize
It took you to make me realize
It took you to make me realize
It took you to make me see the light
Smashed up my sanity
Smashed up integrity
Smashed up what I believed in
Smashed up what’s left of me
Smashed up my everything
Smashed up all that was true
Gonna smash myself to pieces
I don’t know what else to do

Covered in hope and Vaseline
Still cannot fix this broken machine
Watching the hole it used to be mine
Just watching it burn in my steady systematic decline
Of the trust I will betray
Give it to me I throw it away
After everything I’ve done I hate myself for what I’ve become

I tried
I gave up

Throw it away
Bye bye oooh
Bye bye oooh
Isn't that really what you wanted now?

There is no place I can go there is no way I can hide
It feels like it keeps coming from the inside

There is a hate that burns within
The most desperate place I have ever been
Try to get back to where I'm from
Help Me I Am In Hell is track 4 on Broken, a simplistic guitar part repeated, eventually building up and leading into Happiness In Slavery.

Music Video
"Help Me I Am In Hell" was directed by Eric Goode and Serge Becker, who also directed "Wish." The black-and-white video features a man eating a steak and drinking red wine while surrounded by thousands of flies. The man seems oblivious to the flies as they drown in his wine, eat his steak, and swarm around him, crawling close to his eyes and into his mouth. As the song builds, the man has visions of himself in sadomasochistic regalia, wearing a horse's bridle and blinders. As the song begins to decrescendo, the camera zooms out as the man continues with his meal.

Performed live
This song is typically featured as an instrumental lead-in. In the past it lead into Happiness In Slavery (as they appear on the album), but recently it has been used before Non-Entity and Into The Void.
About
"Kinda I Want To" is the sixth track on Pretty Hate Machine, and has ties to lust, though it's unclear exactly what the speaker wants to do or whom they want to do it with. Notably hard to write, Trent Reznor has always been very unsatisified with the song and thinks it's by far the worst song he's ever done. He has also stated it's the one song he will not play live anymore, though as with anything, this is subject to change.
I can’t shake this feeling from my head
There’s a devil sleeping in my bed
He’s watching you from across the way
I cannot make this feeling go away

I know it’s not the right thing
And I know it’s not the good thing
But kinda I want to

I’m not sure of what I should do
When everything I’m thinking of is you
All of my excuses turn to lies
Maybe God will over up His eyes

I know it’s not the right thing
And I know it’s not the good thing
But kinda I want to
Kinda I want to

Maybe just for tonight
We can pretend it’s alright
What’s the price I pay
I don’t care what they say
I want to
I want to (I’ll take my chance tonight)
When played during the Fragility tours and the MTV VMAs, the song would remain very similar to the album version except somewhat louder. During the Year Zero Warm-Up Tour, the Still version of the song was played.

She shines
In a world full of ugliness
She matters
When everything is meaningless

Fragile
She doesn't see her beauty
She tries to get away
Sometimes
It's just that nothing seems worth saving
I can't watch her slip away

I won't let you fall apart

She reads the minds of all the people as they pass her by
Hoping someone can see
If I could fix myself I'd -
But it's too late for me

I won't let you fall apart

We'll find the perfect place to go where we can run and hide
I'll build a wall and we can keep them on the other side
Terrible Lie is often the opening song of Nine Inch Nails shows following the intro tape. The ending of the song is extended when performed live and is often concluded with Trent screaming "you promised me". During the With_Teeth tours, Aaron North plays a short solo during the last few moments of the song. This is a short, three note repeating solo.

The Icarus Line is a rock band from Hollywood, CA. Aaron North was a member of this band prior to joining Nine Inch Nails' touring lineup in 2005.

The band is notoriously wild and has had numerous confrontations with the law, as well as other bands. After Aaron's departure in 2005, the band released one more EP before breaking up in 2007.
Nine Inch Nails music videos are distinctive in their variety. For instance, The Hand That Feeds video is simply the band playing the song in a studio, while the video for Closer has sexual fetesh images, as well as a very artful taste.

wikify
Purest Feeling is a bootleg of the original demo version of Nine Inch Nails' debut album, Pretty Hate Machine, that was recorded at the Right Track Studio in November 1988 by Trent Reznor, whilst he was still working as a cleaner there. It was released as a CD in 1994 by Hawk Records.

The sound is brighter (and in some cases happier) than that of the final versions on Pretty Hate Machine; several songs feature more drumming and guitar work throughout, as well as a heavier use of samples from films. "Kinda I Want To" is reminiscent of early house music. "Twist" is an early version of "Ringfinger", featuring different lyrics and less use of sample loops. The entire album has segues leading each track into the next.

Purest Feeling also features the full lyrics cut from the final versions of songs later released on Pretty Hate Machine; Reznor chose to print the full lyrics in the Pretty Hate Machine booklet to retain some of the original meanings of his songs.
The Downward Spiral (Halo 8) is Nine Inch Nails' second LP. It was released on March 8, 1994. It is likely the most acclaimed and well-known of the band's discography, and is said to have brought "Industrial" music to the mainstream.

Head Like A Hole (Halo 3) was the second single released for the first Nine Inch Nails album Pretty Hate Machine.

About
It was the first commercial success Reznor had and recieved wide radio rotation at the time. It has appeared in almost every concert that Nine Inch Nails has performed since its appearance and has become a staple part of the live set. The With Teeth concerts usually end with this song.

Though Trent Reznor doesn't dislike the song, he was quite suprised it became as big as it did, especially due to it's relatively easy writing process compared to some of the lesser recognized tracks on the CD ("That's What I Get" and "Kinda I Want To" most notably).

The single was released in maxi-single (US) and standard single (UK) formats and do not contain the original album version but rather several remixes of the title track.

Remixes of "Terrible Lie" are the B-Sides for this single, as well as the two remixes of "Down In It" that appeared on the Down In It single and a demo that only appears on the Head Like A Hole single itself. The US Maxi version is actually longer in duration than Pretty Hate Machine while the UK Single is standard size.

On the UK version, there is an (Opal) mix which doesn't appear on the US version. Also the first track, the (Clay) mix which was used for the Head Like A Hole video is mislabeled as the (Slate) mix which is the first track on the US maxi-single but doesn't appear on the UK single version.

The Maxi-Single's disc art reveals the BPM for Head Like A Hole to be 115 BPM and Terrible Lie's to be 88 BPM

On the US version, there's an unlisted 11th track that's a clip of a female shouting "Let's hear it for Nine Inch Nails! Woooo! They're GOOD!"
