}}"Echoplex" is a song by Nine Inch Nails first released online via Facebook on May 2, 2008. It is the fifth track on the album The Slip, and is also included on the promotional 2008 tour EP, Lights In The Sky.

The artwork may symbolize someone being surrounded by sound, as if it were echoing around them. It may also symbolize walls around the person, which makes sense due to the lyrics making a reference to sound bouncing off of walls.

The lyrics suggest a scenario where someone has been in solitary confinement for too long, driving him or her, to insanity, where "you will never ever get to me in here." Another possible scenario is a direct link between the lyrics present on this song and "Demon Seed" ("You feel me breathe" on "Echoplex" vs. "I can hear it breathe"). They could also be extremely literal, referring to the solitude of wherever frontman Trent Reznor comes up with his music.

The bridge to the coda of the song features wind synthesizers similar to the one used in the introduction of "Wish," but do not appear to be the same sound.

Echoplex is also the name of a specific brand of reverb units.

This version of the song was released online via nin.com and PitchforkTV. It was filmed and recorded in the band's rehearsal space in mid 2008 and directed by Rob Sheridan. Josh Freese uses a Jazzmutant Lemur to create the opening drum loop before joining in himself with a different rhythm on top of the loop for the second verse. It also features on The Slip, on a DVD of rehearsal footage.

Live
"Echoplex" was performed on the encore of every show of the Lights In The Sky Tour.
It used a drum sequencer in the background that played the drum loop at the beginning of the album version.

Lyrics
Nice and high and far apart
Just like they said
I built this place with broken parts
Just like they said
You chip away the old version of you
You'd be surprised at what you can do
I'm safe in here
Irrelevant
Just like they said

My voice just echoes off these walls

You feel me breathe
I am watching you
I see it all
The many ways you can't get to me
I see it all
I see the Hell you put yourself through
Oh the things I could do (if I wanted to)

My voice just echoes off these walls
My voice just echoes off these walls
I don't need anything at all
My voice just echoes off these walls

And I just slowly fade away

You will never ever get to me in here

"Discipline" is a single from Nine Inch Nails, also the fourth track on Halo 27, The Slip. It contains a beat reminiscent of "Only" from 2005's With Teeth, and its lyrics seem to have a sado-masochistic overtone.

The song was released to radio stations simultaneously around 2:30pm EST on April 22, 2008, being mastered only the day before, and was then made available as a free download via the official Nine Inch Nails website. When downloaded, it comes with track art and a note found in the comments box of the song info saying "Go to www.nin.com on May 5", which was the release date of the then-unannounced album The Slip. The lyrics are also contained.

"Discipline" is the first radio single from NIN since becoming an independent recording act, following their final release under a major record label, 2007's Y34RZ3R0R3M1X3D. Due to the advertisement and short notice of the release, the song was posted on YouTube almost immediately after release.

When downloading the song from discipline.nin.com, the process involved submitting an email address and a zip/postal code, opening the email and clicking the download link, then putting the token code into the website after clicking the link. A .zip file was automatically downloaded once the token and link had been registered. In addition, the multitrack files can be found at remix.nin.com. The song is no longer avaliable for download by itself, and the download link now redirects to theslip.nin.com, this makes the single version of the song, which is slightly longer than the album track, can only be obtained via p2p sharing.

The track art resembles a lowercase d. It also resembles a person sitting with their knees drawn up to their chest, facing to the left. Lastly, the shape also resembles the portion of the that contains the star.

For the physical release booklet, the red line on the Discipline artwork continues over to the opposite lyrics page crossing over the phrase "I cannot help myself".
Discipline (Multitrack combined version)
The version available at remix.nin.com in the form of seperate multitracks is 5:08 when combined, and does not fade out. Instead, the outro continues for an additional 3½ measures before abruptly coming to a halt.

Live
This song is regularly performed live since the Lights In The Sky Tour it usually ends with reznor saying ououououououou into his
It is also usually performed early in the show usually about the 2nd song.
Lyrics
Am I still tough enough?
Feels like I’m wearing down
Is my viciousness
Losing ground?
Am I taking too much
Did I cross a line
I need my role in this
Very clearly defined
I need your discipline
I need your help
I need your discipline
You know once I start I cannot help myself

And now it's starting up
feels like I'm losing touch
Nothing matters to me
Nothing matters as much
I see you left a mark
Up and down my skin
I don't know where I end
And where you begin
I need your discipline
I need your help
I need your discipline
You know once I start I cannot help myself
Once I start I cannot stop myself
"1,000,000" is the second track of the Nine Inch Nails album The Slip. It flows directly from the sudden end of "999,999."

The idea of the narrator being or feeling "a million miles away," as sung in this song during the chorus, seems to reference or relate to the same idea as sung first in "Hurt." It would also be mentioned again in "All The Love In The World." Whether the three songs are all specifically related beyond repetition of the phrase is publicly unverified.

The song's accompanying artwork is constructed of a '1' and six '0's. Also the one could possibly be a person slipping off the edge of a building, represented by the stack of zeroes. This would coincide with the lyrics. The artwork also resembles, like the artwork for the track "Discipline," the part of the Art is Resistance logo with the star.

In the Limited Edition CD/DVD insert, there are two red lines in the artwork, one originating in the center of the bottom box on the left, and one originating in the middle box on the right. Both lines continue straight downward and off the page.
1,000,000
This is the original album version. The song shares a similar structure with "The Collector," notably how the songs begin, each with a drumming intro and following with a string instrument ("The Collector" had a bass while "1,000,000" has a guitar) which then leads into the lyrics. Perhaps its most notable feature is its structure, which separates the final chorus from the coda via Reznor's lone voice and ensuing silence before drums and guitar blast back in. Its sudden ending leads immediately into "Letting You."

This version of the song was released online via nin.com and PitchforkTV. It was filmed and recorded in the band's rehearsal space in mid 2008 and directed by Rob Sheridan. It also features on The Slips physical release, on an accompanying DVD of rehearsal footage.

Live
This song made its live debut on the dress rehearsal show of the Lights In The Sky Tour. On the Australian dates of the Wave Goodbye Tour, a new live introduction was performed, consisting of "Corona Radiata"-like synthesizer atmospherics surrounding a drum loop from the studio version of "1,000,000" that began at an extremely slow tempo and gradually sped up, eventually leading into the song's normal introduction. This intro was included in an HD video filmed from the stage by Rob Sheridan on the tour and subsequently shared via the official NIN Vimeo account. On The Lights In The Sky tour it was the "first" song. It usually had a shorter 999,999 intro that ended in "What Did I Slip Into". On the Wave goodbye tour it was nearly never performed frst, instead it was played to come back from the slow section of the concert
Lyrics
Kind of hard
Hard to see
When you crawl
On your hands and your knees
With your face
In the trough
Wait your turn
While they finish you off
Don’t know when it started
Don’t know how
Should have found out
Should have happened by now
Got these lines
On my face
After all this time
And I still haven’t found my place

I jump from every rooftop
So high so far to fall
I feel a million miles away
I don’t feel any thing at all

I wake up
On the floor
Start it up again
Like it matters anymore
I don’t know
If it does
Is this really all
That there ever was?
Put the gun
In my mouth
Close your eyes
Blow my fucking brains out
Pretty patterns
On the floor
That’s enough for you
But I still need more

I jump from every rooftop
So high so far to fall
I feel a million miles away
I don’t feel any thing at all

1,000,000 (Live At Rehearsals)

It usually had a shorter 999,999 that ended in "What Did I Slip Into". On the Wave goodbye tour it was nearly never performed frst, instead it was played to come back from the slow section of the concert
Lyrics
Kind of hard
Hard to see
When you crawl
On your hands and your knees
With your face
In the trough
Wait your turn
While they finish you off
Don’t know when it started
Don’t know how
Should have found out
Should have happened by now
Got these lines
On my face
After all this time
And I still haven’t found my place

I jump from every rooftop
So high so far to fall
I feel a million miles away
I don’t feel any thing at all

I wake up
On the floor
Start it up again
Like it matters anymore
I don’t know
If it does
Is this really all
That there ever was?
Put the gun
In my mouth
Close your eyes
Blow my fucking brains out
Pretty patterns
On the floor
That’s enough for you
But I still need more

I jump from every rooftop
So high so far to fall
I feel a million miles away
I don’t feel any thing at all

Discipline (Album version)
The version on The Slip is 4:19 and starts to fade out at the end, but then abruptly cuts off as it segues into "Echoplex." The full-quality, .WAV format download is 4:34 and fades out slower and to a more complete silence than the MP3 version.

Discipline (Multitrack combined version)
The version available at remix.nin.com in the form of seperate multitracks is 5:08 when combined, and does not fade out. Instead, the outro continues for an additional 3½ measures before abruptly coming to a halt.

Discipline (Live At Rehearsal)
This version of the song was filmed and recorded in the band's rehearsal space in mid 2008 and directed by Rob Sheridan. It features on The Slip, on a DVD of rehearsal footage. Its ending is the same as the multitrack combined version, but shorter.

Live
This song is regularly performed live since the Lights In The Sky Tour it usually ends with reznor saying ououououououou into his
lowest key. The Song along with 1,000,000 were the only two songs from the slip to continue on to the Wave Goodbye Tour.
It is also usually performed early in the show usually about the 2nd song.

Lyrics
Am I still tough enough?
Feels like I’m wearing down
Is my viciousness
Losing ground?
Am I taking too much
Did I cross a line
I need my role in this
Very clearly defined
I need your discipline
I need your help
I need your discipline
You know once I start I cannot help myself

And now it's starting up
feels like I'm losing touch
Nothing matters to me
Nothing matters as much
I see you left a mark
Up and down my skin
I don't know where I end
And where you begin
I need your discipline
I need your help
I need your discipline
You know once I start I cannot help myself
Once I start I cannot stop myself
