An article from ''The Wrap''[https://www.thewrap.com/challengers-mixed-album-boys-noize-explained/] detailed the story and process of creating the [MIXED] version of the score. It states that Reznor and Alexander Ridha (aka Boys Noize) had previously attempted to collaborate on something, and that Reznor reached out to Ridha for ''Challengers'':
<blockquote>He explained to me that they've scored the movie, it's great. But they don't want to release the music as it is. Because it makes more sense in the movie raw, like they have it. But he didn't feel like it's the right way. I think they wanted to try out new things and experiment. They had the idea of making it this this type of continuous mix.</blockquote>
