expandIn the winter of 1990–91, Nine Inch Nails embarked on their second headlining North American tour. The tour is part of the Pretty Hate Machine Tour series. Opening acts were Chemlab, Die Warzau, The Adults, Grotus, Fixed Image, Sweat Engine, and Ethyl Meatplow.
Coming soonThe setup for this tour had an industrial aesthetic, and used basic lighting and fog machines. There was also a gate/cage-like structure made of metal pipe that went across the stage, separating the drum riser area from the rest of the band. The drum riser was hollow with a metal grate on the front, and some of the lighting was placed inside. A lighting truss was set up at the front of the stage, from which was hung three chains, much like the ropes that hung down during the Hate Tour. Reznor had a handheld spotlight that he would use during "Down In It".
