The cover art was posted on [[Nin.com|NIN.com]] on August 15, 2007. The titles of the illustrations used for the front and back covers are ''The Scorched Earth'' and ''The Poisoned Sky'', respectively. ''The Poisoned Sky'' is adapted from a photo of the Galp oil refinery in Leça de Palmeira, Matosinhos, Portugal. ''The Scorched Earth'' is likely a composite, and may use images from the same refinery. The front cover is similar to that of the ''[[Capital G (halo)|Capital G]]'' promo.
Although there doesn't seem to be anything hidden in the cover art, a closer look at the [http://www.flickr.com/photos/nineinchnails/3046739751/sizes/o/in/set-72157609404567115/ inner booklet] of the CD/DVD shows the phrase "WE DESERVED BETTER THAN THIS", along with "YOUR GOVERNMENT (Illegible)" and "[[Art Is Resistance|AIR]]" scrawled on an abandoned house in a polluted wasteland. It is unknown if these were part of the ARG [[Year_Zero#Alternate_Reality_Game|alternate reality game]] or led to new websites.
