The project was originally created in response to [http://www.theninhotline.net/news/archives/backissue.php?y=08&m=12#1228356453 an announcement] by [[Trent Reznor]] that plans for a 3D DVD Blu-ray of the [[Lights In The Sky Tour]] had been abandoned. The group decided to create its own DVD video release [http://www.echoingthesound.org/phpbbx/viewtopic.php?t=46378]. After a round of voting, ''[[Another Version Of The Truth]]'' was chosen to be the project title and artwork for , continuing the tradition of naming NIN concert videos after a three-disc DVD was decided as "Another Version of the Truth"certain song (''[[And All That Could Have Been (halo)|And All That Could Have Been]]'', ''[[Beside You In Time (halo)|Beside You In Time]]'').

While this particular project was well-underway, the group also worked on several other releases, including "''The Downward Spiral : Live"''[http://www.theninhotline.net/features/TDSlive/], a very popular release documenting of the first out of two ever live performances of the full "''[[The Downward Spiral (halo)|The Downward Spiral" album, played on August 23rd 2009, at Webster Hall in New York City]]'' during the [[Wave Goodbye Tour]]. This specific project earned the group the attention of the band members themselves, who all tweeted about the release, impressed by its quality. [[Rob Sheridan ]] also posted about it on the official NIN website [[nin.com]] on October 23rd23, 2009 [http://www.nin.com/?id=93361].

The project and website became inactive in summer 2016. Many of the project's recordings are hosted at [[NIN Live Archive]] and [[nindestruct.com]]. ==Releases=====''Another Version Of The Truth''===On December 18th18, 2009, the group released the final trailer [http://bit.ly/8iP26a] for "''Another Version of the Of The Truth"'', to be released as three seperate separate torrents respectively on December 25th 25, 2009, January 25th 25, 2010 , and February 25th 25, 2010, to be and followed by a physical release. One For the physical release, the first disc is a DVD will be , comprised of footage filmed in [[2008/12/13 Las Vegas, NV|Las Vegas]] on 13 December, 2008 at the final date of the 2008 North American tour. The other second disc, labeled "The Gift" and released in DVD will be and Blu-ray versions, is compiled from over 400 gigabytes GB of high-definition footage from three other stops on the tour, released by Trent Reznor as a "Christmas and New Year gift"from Nine Inch Nails. Still wanting to document the tour, Reznor then had several shows shot by the road crew with prosumer equipment, and the raw footage was released for fans to do with as they wished. This One Is On Us took the footage and made it into a full-length concert video.
