It was both announced and digitally released as a free download on March 26, 2020, during the ''#STAYHOME'' initiative in the wake of the [[wikiwp:COVID-19pandemic|COVID-19]] isolation due to viral outbreak worldwide. It was released simultaneously with Ghosts' second instalment, [[Ghosts V: Togetherpandemic]].

 The album was released alongside Ghosts V, making them the only NIN release to date to be released on the same date as another Halo-assigned release. The album was released unannounced, with via a message from [[Trent Reznor]] and [[Atticus Ross]] on the [[nin.com ]] website:
