I did a few searches and came up with one Fabio Chiarello, (fabio.chiarello@roma1.infn.it) who seems to be involved in Quantum computing, which is something mentioned a few times on the various web pages that branch off the pilgrims site.  Fabio Chiarello right now is the major researcher in the field of SQUIDs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SQUID) or Superconducting Quantum Interference Devices.

In fiction: In Michael Crichton's 1999 novel Timeline, SQUIDs are mentioned as a part of the Quantum Teleportation device developed by ITC.

I downloaded a pdf of a research paper he did, if anyone wants to see it, but my theoretical physics is far from up to snuff to understand it.
