David Haymes was the keyboardist for Nine Inch Nails for a brief period in 1990, during the Automatic Tour supporting The Jesus and Mary Chain and the Deep Tour supporting Peter Murphy. He replaced Nick Rushe. According to Trent Reznor, Haymes was fired. He was replaced by Lee Mars for the Hate Tour.

Haymes was given the nickname "Tailpipe" by other members of the band because he "always smelled."
