Discovery?
What are subnets and how does one go about scanning them? In other words, the discovery of this site is a complete mystery to me; I don't get it. Anyone care to expand a little bit? Thanks much. Tsguitar 22:55, 23 April 2007 (PDT)
- Subnets in this context refer to ranges of IP addresses that are the same in the first three bytes, and differ in the fourth byte. For example, 192.168.1.0 through 192.168.1.255 comprise one subnet. (Each component of an IP address is 1 byte and therefore can have a value from 0 to 255.) So, by "scanning a subnet," they mean they've taken existing ARG website IP addresses, and searched for active web servers on the other 255 IP addresses associated with that subnet. Note that webservers are very unlikely (though it's not impossible) to have an IP address ending in 0 or 255. (Networking fancypants will be quick to point out oversimplifications in my explanation, but that's the basic idea.) --Mr z 05:31, 24 April 2007 (PDT)

bad request?
anyone else getting the message "Bad Request (Invalid Hostname)" when they click the link? perhaps the server's down, or maybe it's something else? not sure. Tocz 21:49, 26 April 2007 (PDT)
I am too. something weird is going on. Maybe we accidently found this page and it's really in one of the new garage band files? Blank 22:02, 26 April 2007 (PDT)
