The colored HLAH single (the import) is the way i intended it to be released, but TVT released the black & white one with all the extra (i think boring) mixes & ugly cover.

The maxi-single's disc art reveals the tempo for "Head Like A Hole" (115 BPM) and "Terrible Lie" (88 BPM). On the US version, there's an unlisted bonus track featuring a clip of Heather "Princess" Day from ''[[1989/11/20 Camden, NJ|Dance Party USA]]'' shouting "Let's hear it for Nine Inch Nails! Woooo! They're GOOD!" Also the first track on the UK single version is mislabeled: instead of ''Slate'' it should read ''Clay''.

The UK version's colored artwork was what Reznor originally intended for the single's cover, but TVT Records rejected it in favor of the black and white artwork, because the color printing would have cost more than they wanted to be pay. Island Records later used the sole color artwork, but was replaced for the wider UK release by TVT Records due to of the colour printing costing too muchsingle.[httphttps://www.theninhotline.net/archives/articles/managerdisplay/display_article.php?id=327]
The Designers Republic, who did the artwork for the ''[[Sin (halo)|Sin]]'' single, wanted to do proposed a similar design for the ''Head Like A Hole'' single, but it wasn't used. A mockup of the art was posted to Facebook in 2016.[https://www.facebook.com/thedesignersrepublic/photos/pcb.10154678018942214/10154678017797214/?type=3&theater]
