This is the original album version. It starts quietly with a dark, uneasy drone fading in from the end of "[[The Line Begins To Blur]]," which remains prominently throughout the entirety of the song and swells in volume in time with the simple drum loop. [[Trent Reznor]]'s long verse syllables are joined by a percussive yet melodic loop moving with the drum loop, fading away through the simple and repetitious chorus. The second chorus ends and drops out all elements but the drone, which stops swelling quickly and increases in volume until the drum loop enters once more and sets the drone swelling again. This leads into a loud, powerful, guitar-driven coda, its rhythmic pace matching the 16th note pulse evident throughout the track. This live performance can be found on the ''Beside You In Time'' live album DVD release. Mostly faithful to the original, it features a shorter break between the final chorus and the loud coda, during which Reznor uses his microphone stand to "smash" the projection screen before him, which "shatters" like a wall of glass in time with his attack.

On the Fall 2005 and Winter 2006 legs of the [[Live: With Teeth]] tour, a curtain is dropped down in front of the stage as lights pulsate both on the screen and behind the stage. The band can be seen silhouetted against the back lights. As the song builds to its climax, [[Trent Reznor]] can be seen lifting his microphone stand, swinging it at the curtain at the song's climax as it shows a shattering glass effect and lifts, revealing the stage once again.
