The single ''Head Like A Hole'' was released in maxi-single (US) and standard single (UKand Australia) formats and do not contain . Despite the absence of the original album version but rather several remixes of on either release, the title track. Remixes US Maxi version is longer than ''Pretty Hate Machine'', thanks to inclusion of "[[Terrible Lie]]" are 5 tracks from the B-Sides for this single, as well as the two remixes limited UK edition of "[[Down In It (song)|Down In It]]" that appeared on the ''[[Down In It '' single (haloHalo 1)|: 2 versions of "Terrible Lie" and 3 of "Down In It]]'' single and a demo that ", all of which had only appears been available on the ''Head Like A Hole'' vinyl when this maxi-single itself. The US Maxi version is actually longer in duration than ''[[Pretty Hate Machine]]'' while the UK Single is standard sizewas due for release; shortly thereafter, Halo 1 was released on CD by TVT as well.

On the UK versionIn 1993, there is an (Opal) mix which doesn't appear on the US version. Also the first tracknow defunct Prodigy message boards, Trent Reznor made the (Clay) mix which was used for the "[[Head Like A Hole (song)|Head Like A Hole]]" video is mislabeled as the (Slate) mix which is following comment about the first track on circumstances of the US maxi-single but doesn't appear on the UK single version.release:

The maxi-single's disc art reveals the tempo for "Head Like A Hole" (115 BPM) and "Terrible Lie" (88 BPM). On the US version, there's an unlisted 11th bonus track, entitled: Let's Hear It For Nine Inch Nails, featuring a clip of Kelly Ripa Heather "Princess" Day from Dance Party USA shouting "Let's hear it for Nine Inch Nails! Woooo! They're GOOD!"Also the first track on the UK single version is mislabeled: instead of ''Slate'' it should read ''Clay''.
