The first minute of the song is somewhat industrial in natureheavy on drum loops, guitar, before it stops and is replaced by processed screamsof [[Trent Reznor]], similar in sound to ''[[The Downward Spiral (halo)|The Downward Spiral]]''. It then descends into ambience, Reznor's screams echoing and fading away beneath. Level name: "The Bad Place" (DM4, multiplayer only)."Quake Theme" is the most common title of this track because it then becomes ambient til the endplays during demo rolls immediately upon game launch.
