Maybe Capital G is about a government so large and bold that it's Government with a capital G. That seems to be a big push of this concept. --Tsguitar 21:44, 22 February 2007 (PST)

God and Government. Same thing. Aeonite 21:50, 22 February 2007 (PST)

i was thinking along the same lines.. the guns god and government theory

I figured the G was for god. I think that's because it follows that "god for this one" lyric. Just sounded like that when I listened to it not focused for once

Theories
I don't think that belongs in the main page. Waeayovooo 11:51, 6 April 2007 (PDT)
== This is pretty idiotic Song meaning Straight from TR's mouth == Sorry to erase the debate, but the song meaning has now come straight from the horses mouth:
Not only are there multiple grammatical and spelling errors on At this page, but the theories section is completely off baseGerman magazine: http://www. If you want to have that 'non-political non-threatening' explanation of what the song is about, than, alright, it's a theorymotor. But this song is blatantly about President George Wde/motormeinung/motor. Bushde/nine_inch_nails_der_apokalyptische_reiter. Not only does it say 'I pushed the button and elected him to office" it then says "and he signs his name with a capital htmlthey ask: Capital G"scheint aber schon ziemlich deutlich auf George W. Alsozugeschnitten zu sein, if Trent Reznor is singing from the point of view of someone who used to 'stand for something' and no longer cares for other people/thingsoder?or roughly, and this person is the one that put capital "Capital G into office, then it's safe to assume Reznor is saying that those who put him into office are these such peopleabout George W. Not only do the lyrics STRONGLY suggest this as the true meaning of the song, but the incident Reznor had with MTV, along with how many times during the With_Teeth tour that he used images of Bush to portray the negative aspects of his song lyrics, both provide a background to his feelings towards Bush and what he has done as a President. Whether these opinions accurately reflect his fans or not, or if this interpretation would offend anyone who read it, does not matter, as it is clearly Reznor's view. Jgrizzy89 18:48, 10 April 2007 (PDT)right?"
:I think theories should stay at the bottom of the page, we don't want every yahoo posting their interpretations of songs. For example: I know some goth kid is going to think the great destroyer is about himself (barf) when it's infact about (atleast I think) about a vector for Red Horse. Plus why would capital G be about GW when this is way way after GW went out of office? 14 years to be exact. G could stand for Greed, or any other character in the ARG that has been elected. So in short, not for sure it's about the current president as of today -Velvolver 11:31, 11 April 2007 (PDT)
Trent responds:: Leo's been the one moving it to the top"Capital G. So far the only theories being posted are the more or less widly accepted ones" bedeutet "Greed". People are free to elaborate, but if you feel a theory is unknown or not widly held you're encouraged to move it "Capital G" refers to the talk section :D -- BurnHavoc 3:04, 11 April 2007 (EST)"Greed"
:If there is going to be a Theories subsection in the articles, it makes more sense for it to be near the top, with the rest of the general information about the song (Meanings, interpretations, relationships, etc.).
:As for the theory but he does go on to say that it's about George W. can be applied to Bush, it makes sense because he's the one who attacked other sovereign nations without Congressional approvalor whomever you feel appropriate.
:ThatInfo's what I think anywaybeen added to the main page.--Leo3375 12:12, 11 April 2007 (PDT)
:http: While I would normally support that, //www.exterminal.net/notes.htm also backs up the concept album is supposed to have been "transportedG=Greed" back in time interp, since the author of that note write arrows from year zero, so Bush wouldn't be very accurate as he hasn't been in power for almost a decade monetary figures and a half decades by year zero"why do this?" to "capital G. I'm supporting of the theory that it" Good to see 42e sticking with Reznor's in regard to government regulated beliefsoriginal interp... Itshows they's a reference re working closely. Granted we had no reason to hardliner christians who control religion in the countryexpect otherwise, the types who get angry if you type god insted of God. Hebut it's basically commenting on the fucked up state people are in with accepting a government regulated belief in "God" rather than the individual beliefs in whatever form of god you prefer. I've frequented places online where I've been threatened with kickbans and IP bans for not capitalizing the G in god so I can perfectly well understand where this song is probally comming fromnice to know. -- BurnHavocDij 1608:1025, 17 April 11 2007 (ESTPDT)
==The Theories Section==I just changed the wording of the "Theories" section on the page. Hopefully it will bring meaningful discussion about these theories to this page.--Leo3375 14:00, 11 April 2007 (PDT): @Leo: Facts firstI'm all for just adding links to the respective ETS threads for each song. That seems to be the way to go, theory secondas ETS is a much better place to discuss things such as this. It's a pretty standard convention for wiki-writing-Tony 14:37, stemming 11 April 2007 (PDT)::Ooh! Good idea! I can remove the Theories section from generally accepted journalism the page and encyclopedia style guidesadd external links to ETS!--Leo3375 14:38, and 11 April 2007 (PDT):::Anyway you guys wanna do it just makes sense. Casual readers can get meaningful info ^_^ --GrayscaleRain 14:39, 11 April 2007 (lyrics, dates performed, remixes etcPDT) without having to slog through a dozen conflicting theories about what the song means if theory-stuff is at the bottom.
::: ==Capital G==I just thought I'm also in the camp d say if you look at preordering Year Zero on Amazon there is a little sticker that capital says "Including Survivalism and Capital G does not refer " suggesting it might be a single to GWBcome. Yes, Reznor has openly bashed him, and Thought I agree 100% with those sentiments... but that's just not what's being referenced here. The big G could be God, Government, Greed... possibly Guns, but that doesn't feel rightd help you guys.
::: Hey, it's art, not a lecture. Maybe it's intentionally *gasp* open to interpretation. -- Dij 16:34, April 11 2007 (EST)== Sounds Like? ==
:::: While I agree to certain degrees, there IS Do we need the external link that describes it as having a table swing blah blah? As now any of us (with some proper research) can hear it on contents for our own? Like with the Vessel article saying it sounded like Down In It, I dont think we need someone telling us how it sounds now that its available... Especially because its a reasonshort description. Nontheless if you feel that that kinda stuff should be at the bottom.. Jgrizzy89 16:34, you are free 11 April 2007 (PDT):The external link is to edit all the pages an early review of Year Zero. You can take it down and move them down. Just try it to be consistant and move them ALL down rather than just one or twothe "Year Zero" page if you'd like. -- BurnHavocLeo3375 1618:5658, 12 April 11 2007 (ESTPDT)
I just don't see why an overview of Theories should be kept separate from information such as a song's meaning and interpretations. Isn't a theory a type of song interpretation== Second single? For now I'm keeping the Theories sections where they are, and any elaboration on them should be on that particular article's Discussion page. That is what we're doing here, for example.--Leo3375 13:54, 11 April 2007 (PDT)==
: I think he's suggusting that both sections Theories and Miscellaneous should be put below Appearances, Versions and Lyrics, not just move theories itself, that way more relevant facts about the songs are up front and the interpertations and opinions are later on in Any evidence other than the article. -- sticker?
