Maybe Capital G is about a government so large and bold that it's Government with a capital G. That seems to be a big push of this concept. --Tsguitar 21:44, 22 February 2007 (PST)

God and Government. Same thing. Aeonite 21:50, 22 February 2007 (PST)

i was thinking along the same lines.. the guns god and government theory

I figured the G was for god. I think that's because it follows that "god for this one" lyric. Just sounded like that when I listened to it not focused for once

This is pretty idiotic Song meaning Straight from TR's mouth
Not only are there multiple grammatical and spelling errors on this page, but the theories section is completely off base. If you want Sorry to have that 'non-political non-threatening' explanation of what the song is about, than, alright, it's a theory. But this song is blatantly about President George W. Bush. Not only does it say 'I pushed erase the button and elected him to office" it then says "and he signs his name with a capital G". Also, if Trent Reznor is singing from the point of view of someone who used to 'stand for something' and no longer cares for other people/things, and this person is the one that put capital G into office, then it's safe to assume Reznor is saying that those who put him into office are these such people. Not only do the lyrics STRONGLY suggest this as the true meaning of the songdebate, but the incident Reznor had with MTV, along with how many times during the With_Teeth tour that he used images of Bush to portray the negative aspects of his song lyrics, both provide a background to his feelings towards Bush and what he meaning has done as a President. Whether these opinions accurately reflect his fans or not, or if this interpretation would offend anyone who read it, does not matter, as it is clearly Reznor's view. At this German magazine: http:I think theories should stay at the bottom of the page, we don't want every yahoo posting their interpretations of songs//www.motor.de/motormeinung/motor.de/nine_inch_nails_der_apokalyptische_reiter. For examplehtmlthey ask: I know some goth kid is going to think the great destroyer is about himself (barf) when it's infact about (atleast I think) about a vector for Red Horse. Plus why would capital Capital G be about GW when this is way way after GW went out of office? 14 years to be exactscheint aber schon ziemlich deutlich auf George W. G could stand for Greedzugeschnitten zu sein, oder?or any other character in the ARG that has been elected. So in shortroughly, not for sure it's "Capital G is about the current president as of today -Velvolver 11:31George W., 11 April 2007 (PDT)right?"
:: Leo's been the one moving it to the top. So far the only theories being posted are the more or less widly accepted ones. People are free to elaborate, but if you feel a theory is unknown or not widly held you're encouraged to move it to the talk section :D -- BurnHavoc 3:04, 11 April 2007 (EST)
Trent responds:If there is going to be a Theories subsection in the articles, it makes more sense for it to be near the top, with the rest of the general information about the song (Meanings, interpretations, relationships, etc"Capital G.)" bedeutet "Greed".or"Capital G" refers to "Greed"
:As for the theory that it's about George W. Bush, it makes sense because he's the one who attacked other sovereign nations without Congressional approval.
:That's what I think anywaybut he does go on to say that it can be applied to Bush, or whomever you feel appropriate.--Leo3375 12:12, 11 April 2007 (PDT)
:: While I would normally support that, the concept album is supposed to have been "transported" back in time from year zero, so Bush wouldnInfo't be very accurate as he hasn't s been in power for almost a decade and a half decades by year zero. I'm supporting of the theory that it's in regard added to government regulated beliefs. It's a reference to hardliner christians who control religion in the country, the types who get angry if you type god insted of God. He's basically commenting on the fucked up state people are in with accepting a government regulated belief in "God" rather than the individual beliefs in whatever form of god you prefer. I've frequented places online where I've been threatened with kickbans and IP bans for not capitalizing the G in god so I can perfectly well understand where this song is probally comming frommain page. -- BurnHavoc 16:10, April 11 2007 (EST)
:http:: @Leo: Facts first, theory second//www. It's a pretty standard convention for wiki-writing, stemming from generally accepted journalism and encyclopedia style guides, and it just makes senseexterminal. Casual readers can get meaningful info (lyrics, dates performed, remixes etc) without having to slog through a dozen conflicting theories about what the song means if theory-stuff is at the bottomnet/notes::: I'm htm also in backs up the "G=Greed" interp, since the camp author of that note write arrows from monetary figures and "why do this?" to "capital G does not refer to GWB. " Yes, Good to see 42e sticking with Reznor has openly bashed him, and I agree 100% with those sentiments's original interp... but thatshows they's just not what's being referenced herere working closely. The big G could be God, Government, Greed... possibly GunsGranted we had no reason to expect otherwise, but that doesn't feel right. ::: Hey, it's art, not a lecture. Maybe it's intentionally *gasp* open nice to interpretationknow. -- Dij 16:34, April 11 2007 (EST) :::: While I agree to certain degrees, there IS a table on contents for a reason. Nontheless if you feel that that kinda stuff should be at the bottom, you are free to edit all the pages and move them down. Just try to be consistant and move them ALL down rather than just one or two. -- BurnHavoc 1608:56, April 11 2007 (EST) I just don't see why an overview of Theories should be kept separate from information such as a song's meaning and interpretations. Isn't a theory a type of song interpretation? For now I'm keeping the Theories sections where they are, and any elaboration on them should be on that particular article's Discussion page. That is what we're doing here25, for example.--Leo3375 13:54, 11 April 2007 (PDT) : I think he's suggusting that both sections Theories and Miscellaneous (and possibly credits to appear after or before Lyrics) should be put below Appearances, Versions and Lyrics, not just move or remove the theories section itself, that way more relevant facts about the songs are up front and the interpertations and opinions are later on in the article. -- BurnHavoc 17:33, April 11 2007 (EST) Can I write a description for it? :D --GrayscaleRain 14:36, 11 April 2007 (PDT)

Capital G
I just thought I'd say if you look at preordering Year Zero on Amazon there is a little sticker that says "Including Survivalism and Capital G" suggesting it might be a single to come. Thought I'd help you guys.

Sounds Like?
Do we need the external link that describes it as having a swing blah blah? As now any of us (with some proper research) can hear it on our own? Like with the Vessel article saying it sounded like Down In It, I dont think we need someone telling us how it sounds now that its available... Especially because its a short description... Jgrizzy89 16:34, 11 April 2007 (PDT)
:The external link is to an early review of Year Zero. You can take it down and move it to the "Year Zero" page if you'd like.--Leo3375 18:58, 12 April 2007 (PDT)

It's not clear as to who the unknown inmate is who was found with the audio evidence "Capital G" so the speculative tag has been added. Abject 11:27, 16th Aprial 2007 (PDT)

I think that exhibitA and the actual Capital G from Year Zero is different in that exhibitA is out of phase -- where one has a crest the other has a trough (when at the same position in the song) I don't know if there's any way to see if the data has anything hidden when comparing the two. Also, if this has been pointed out before I offer my condolances because I've been out of the ARG loop for a while. Edman274 14:00, 13 January 2008 (PST)
