== "The Great Collapse" ==

So do you propose giving that song its own page, then? Many believe it to be a remix of "[[The Wretched]]" because of the lyric "Now you know this is what it feels like." So let's figure this out.

And don't forget: when adding anything to an article's discussion page, sign your comments by typing four tildes (~) immediately afterward.--[[User:Leo3375|Leo3375]] 20:25, 7 June 2007 (PDT)
:Sorry if I came off hostile with my edits. Frankly, I just got really tired of pretty much everyone on the NINternet saying TGC is a remix of The Wretched when it very clearly isn't, IMO. My opinion is based on apparently circumstantial evidence from a TR interview - circumstantial because I can't for the life of me recall where I read it, or even if I did! Sounds like it's time for a Hotline article archive search. As well, the lyrics simply reinforce the web-like nature of The Fragile. People would call Underneath It All a remix of The Great Below if it was on TFA and credited to TR and Alan Moulder, would they not? Anyway, I could swear TR has said that TGC is a Fragile outtake, and not a remix. It helps that the "manipulations" are credited to TR and Moulder, who sat there and put together the whole record. Any info you can share on this is obviously welcome, as this interview I have in my head may not even exist across the vast seas of the interweb, and I don't proclaim to be the info master about this. - Seasonsinthesky 20:37, 7 June 2007 (PDT)
::Cool. Let me know if you find anything concrete. If you have, go ahead and make a page for it.--[[User:Leo3375|Leo3375]] 05:23, 8 June 2007 (PDT)

== Direct linking to categories ==

I saw you tried to link to the instrumental category, and couldn't figure it out. To link to a category with a wikilink, type with a colon preceding the text, like this:
<nowiki>[[:Category:Instrumentals]]</nowiki>
[[User:Sheepdean|sheepdean]][[User_talk:Sheepdean|is in your base killing your d00ds]] 06:25, 30 May 2009 (PDT)
:Thanks sheepy! It was actually already linked, but when I edited that section and put it at the front of the sentence, it magically disappeared! - [[User:Seasonsinthesky|Seasonsinthesky]] 06:34, 30 May 2009 (PDT)

== ==Songs vs. Halos== ==

It would make more sense to make them called Wish (promo) etc. if they are to be kept - but every scrap of info on the halo pages would have to be transferred. We also would have to remedy in excess of 600 pages. There's also that this is meant to be a definitive wiki (eventually), and so promotional releases should all have as much detail as main ones - IMO we should also eventually have a page, or mention on each halo's page, the alternative releases for Each Halo and their differences.

If you really want to remedy them, also remember you have to do all of these:
*Into the void
*Happiness In Slavery
*Wish
*Starfuckers
*Burn
*Hurt
*Capital G
Now think about all the pages that link to the song and halo, each would have to be remedied unless you would simply have a redirect page, which would not be server-friendly in the slightest. Personally, despite the disambiguation links, I think it's best how it is. [[User:Sheepdean|sheepdean]] [[User_talk:Sheepdean|Try to speak as clearly as you can]] 11:38, 9 June 2009 (PDT)

== Official videos from Vimeo ==

No need to list them as different versions. Just include them as external links and specify on the Song page where it was performed. I usually use the title of the video at Vimeo when describing the content.--[[User:Leo3375|leo3375]] 09:00, 10 June 2009 (PDT)

== List of common musical themes ==

Category would be pointless, but the page could be interesting - the downside would be it's contestable when pieces are thematically similar, and how to arrange it would be complex. There's also the point of where to link it from, but I think it sounds good if you're willing to put in the effort, I'll be fine correcting your errors after ;) [[User:Sheepdean|sheepdean]] [[User_talk:Sheepdean|Try to speak as clearly as you can]] 12:41, 4 July 2009 (PDT)

== List of films that use NIN songs ==

since my last list idea kinda fell through, here's another: a list of the films whose scores and soundtracks feature NIN. somebody posted a nice list of them on nin.com, so i could just drop it in and link around. the list could be linked in using some kind of methodology similar to how on Wikipedia you can do (see 2009 in music) next to a year of release to access the category, so each song that is featured on a soundtrack can have a link like "(see list of NIN soundtrack contributions)" next to the Appearances listings - or a better idea if you've got one in that fantastic brain of yours ;) - [[User:Seasonsinthesky|Seasonsinthesky]] 06:30, 16 August 2009 (PDT)
:Seems a sound idea - I would also include those trailers which include it (300, Terminator4 etc.). And if you check NIN's imdb page, there's almost every film. As for how to link it - I'd say use a link such as:
===Appearances===
====Other====
<nowiki>[[Use of music in films|Resident Evil]]</nowiki>
:Although remember we do already have the incomplete list at [[In pop culture]], so you could use that rather than create a new page. Good idea, your call on how to execute [[User:Sheepdean|sheepdean]] [[User_talk:Sheepdean|Try to speak as clearly as you can]] 06:55, 16 August 2009 (PDT)

== Adding BPMs to song pages ==

here's my next ambitious idea: to include the BPM rate of every song (studio released, anyway) on its page (and subsequently any differing BPMs for remixes, etc.) and to make the BPM rate a link to the List of BPM Rates page. y/y? help me out on it? - [[User:Seasonsinthesky|seasonsinthesky]] 14:25, 9 February 2010 (PST)
:Seems reasonable. I would put them in the song template at the top personally, so would that be a template thing, or would you prefer it to be in the versions header? I think the advantage of it being in the template is that (a) if we code it in, we can change things faster and (b) it'll look prettier, but if you'd rather have it bolded/italicised in versions, your call, you seem to know more about these things. I'll be happy to implement any template changes needed, or copy.paste in the 200 and whatever numbers [[User:Sheepdean|sheepdean]] [[User_talk:Sheepdean|Try to speak as clearly as you can]] 15:42, 9 February 2010 (PST)

::pffft that sounds like the easiest way to me (the template thing), if you want to do that. i'd much rather not edit all the song articles just to stick in a sentence per version about its BPM! also, for the tracks that don't have a listed BPM yet, i'll work on that when i can, since it kinda bugs me that some of them are blatantly off — for instance, i checked out the RWIB tempo the other week and it was WAY OFF on the List of BPM Rates page — and we obviously want accuracy here. - [[User:Seasonsinthesky|seasonsinthesky]] 18:18, 9 February 2010 (PST)

:::As I'm not about to break open ninwiki and throw in a ton of java, each page will still have to be edited, but only 3 or 4 characters per song version. Also, as I was just looking at the coding for the song template, I've noticed a problem - we can't just put it in next to each version unless we do it manually. So maybe we only do the bpm of the original mix at first, and then try and decide how to make the remixes lok good (or not do them at all). I have ideas, but they will require tricky behaviour... For now:

::::I don't want to put it in until you're sure about all the BPMs though, you can leave remixes, but I don't want us pumping in information we know could be false. == Lyrics sections in articles about songs ==

What do you (and other adepts) think about moving lyrics higher, putting them before Appearances/Live? i kinda thought it would look nicer that way [[User:BenAkenobi|BenAkenobi]] 11:58, 21 January 2011 (PST)

:i think i prefer it as is — was thinking the other day about how empty the instrumental pages look when it's just got the Live section and then the sequencer for the album tracklist and categories and then that's it for their pages. i.e. i like having lyrics at the end of the page. have you tried anything in the Sandbox or w/e yet? would be interesting to see... - [[User:Seasonsinthesky|seasonsinthesky]] 13:06, 21 January 2011 (PST)
