Littered throughout all of the [[Year Zero Research|websites]] published thus far, as well as in each MP3, sequences of numbers have been found.
There have been several theories to what they mean, and no definite answer yet.

All the numbers so far have been in the format: 24.{3-19}.{1-8}

===24.3.1===
Found in the Morse Code at the end of recording found at phone number [[12163331810#Transcription|1-216-333-1810]].

Another instance of this number was found from [[2432.mp3]] (24.3.2, also in the ID3 comments) which came with Me, I'm Not.

Found on a flyer (http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=399108993&size=l) handed out at a show in Paris, France on February 21, 2007. Under the right side of the horizontal part of the T, there are a bunch of horizontal lines running down alongside it. If you count, there are 24 horizontal lines, then a vertical line, then 13 horizontal lines, then another vertical line, and finally 2 more horizontal lines. This gives 24.13.2.

First number not to correspond to the current halo.track.letter theory (unless one counts the bonus track on the Japanese release, which would be track 17).

==The Theories==
===Dates===
The first big theory was that the numbers corresponded to dates,

For example: 24.14.2 would translate to the 14th of February, 2024

However, there are several reasons why this theory is flawed:
- "[[Year Zero]]" itself has been determined to be 2022.
- The frequency of the second number does not lend well to the theory.

===[[Year Zero Bible References|Bible Verses]]===
The second big theory came when it was discovered that in the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_James_Bible King James Bible], verses from the 24th book, [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeremiah Jeremiah], offered a fitting undertone to the overall story.

For example: 24.14.2 would translate as book 24 (Jeremiah), chapter 14, verse 2.

So far, there have been no numbers that do not match up with bible verses.

===Year Zero Tracklisting===
The current big theory is that the numbers equate to characters from the Year Zero song titles.

For example: 24.14.2 would translate as: Halo 24 (Year Zero), song 14 ([[Another Version of the Truth (song)|Another Version of the Truth]]), character 2 (n)

In this theory, it's unsure what the purpose of the numbers would be.

So far, the best theory to have arisen is as follows:

If each code represents halo.track.letter (example: 24.01.1 would be "H"), then things seem a bit too easy because, hey, we automatically know every code, from 24.01.1 to 24.16.8. There may be another step. Currently, there are graphics on [http://yearzero.nin.com yearzero.nin.com] that appear a bit weird, so to speak. Off to the left there is some noise, and around the track "My Violent Heart" there is an odd pattern. These exact same graphics are found on churchofplano.com. Since 24.10.2 is the only code on there, it's reasonable to suspect that O (the letter that 24.10.2 goes with) is the first letter in the puzzle. The next site to use these graphics will be the next letter, and so on.

Thus far the corresponding letters to the entries, in order, given on this site, are "surgodgiventhanoinw". The phrase "god given" is clearly readable in the message. As other clues are found and other letters are derived, perhaps a clearer message will emerge.

At the very least, it gives a definite scope of the number of clues which may exist, assuming there is a number for each clue.

Another theory corresponds to the first, where numbers stand for clues so as to keep the fans deciphering on track. Since there are so many letters to fill in, it's possible that we are left with a few at the end. It could be that the letters ''left over'' would be the anagram.

===Federal Orderly Conduct Act===

The number 24.13.1, found in the warning for accessing the [http://artisresistance.com/ Art Is Resistance] website, is a section from the Federal Orderly Conduct Act which the user violates by visiting the page without proper authorization. This suggests that each of the found numbers correspond to a section of the Act.

This theory will be impossible to confirm, however, until a copy of the Act is released or leaked.

===The Stand or other books===
Due to the new clues, 24.19.X, it is unlikely the numbers are referring to the 19th track of YearZero, since there isn't one.

References to books like The Stand, and Slaughter House 5, have led some to believe that possibly these books are the clues given by the numbers. The Stand (reissuing of the expanded version) is the 24th book Stephen King has written.

===Halos===
The numbers could form a soundtrack for the World of Year Zero, seeing as they fit very well with the context of each location they are found. The 24 section of each number could mean that they should be viewed from the perspective of Year Zero.
