His vocals for the song were uncharacteristically, and somewhat unrecognizably soft and pleasant. Tori Amos has also been known to perform a portion of "[[Hurt]] " in concert, and has made several allusions to [[Nine Inch Nails ]] in her solo work, most notably in '"Precious Things' " from ''Little Earthquakes'' and '"Caught a Lite Sneeze' " from ''Boys for Pele.''. The two were once close friends, though their relationship is currently undetermined.
