Odd Man Out was a band formed in September 1987 with Bruce Somers on drums (also producer for Slam Bamboo), Don Cook on guitar, and Sean Beavan on vocals and bass (also worked on many Nine Inch Nails releases and related things, including Broken, Fixed, The Downward Spiral, Closer To God, Further Down The Spiral, Slam Bamboo, and Hanson: The Movie).
In spring 1988, they added Marty Step on keyboards (also in Exotic Birds) and rechristened themselves as Cool Down Daddy. Trent Reznor also played keyboards for Cool Down Daddy for a brief time in 1988, before Nine Inch Nails. Step left at the end of 1988 and was replaced in January 1989 by Nick Rushe, who would later play keyboards in Nine Inch Nails during the "Pretty Hate Machine" Promotional Tour.
