In late 2011, the server on which ETS resided suffered a catastrophic hard drive failure. While backups of the database were made periodically, they were not stored offsite. The board was rebooted by Leviathant and Malechite, now running vBulletin and residing on the same server as The NIN Hotline.
ETS has become the most popular NIN forum on the Internet and is often the place where news and rumors about the band first appear. It was also a central collaboration point for the [[Year Zero]] metagame. Operating continuously for over 20 years, ETS is the longest-lived NIN fan community.
Aside from Nine Inch Nails topics, there are popular general discussion forums on music, film, and current events.
