In the mid-2020s, with the advent of AI-generated music, images, video, and voice replacement, fake songs attributed to famous artists began to appear on the Internet. In the run-up to the [[Peel It Back Tour]], when fans were wondering if any new NIN material was forthcoming, someone going by Sunday Morning Heretic claimed to have gotten potential NIN demo files from a hacked server from an LA recording studio.
