The Null Corporation, as a record company, owns and administers rights for Nine Inch Nails releases and early How To Destroy Angels releases (later HTDA releases were owned by HTDA, LLC). In 2010, a separate record company called The Null Corporation II was created to administer rights and contracts associated with Reznor's soundtrack work.
As a record label, The Null Corporation sometimes self-releases material, such as The Slip and Ghosts I-IV. For Nine Inch Nails releases since 2017, it has contracted with Universal Music Group for global manufacturing and distribution of physical releases through UMG labels like UMe, Capitol Records, and Caroline International, and Interscope Records.
For soundtrack releases, in cases where the studios don't want to handle the soundtrack release themselves, The Null Corporation licenses content from the rights holders for self-release (usually for digital-only releases). In some cases, it retains ownership of the soundtrack music, and licenses it to the film production for use in the film. And again, it partners with UMG labels to manufacture and distribute physical releases, such as the Bird Box Extended Version and Mank vinyl. It also participates in joint releases with other labels and rights holders, such as with the Quake Soundtrack.
