Brian Liesegang is a musician, songwriter, and producer who has worked with Nine Inch Nails and was a founding member of Filter with Richard Patrick.
After graduating from the University of Chicago, Liesegang began his career by working on NIN's Broken and The Downward Spiral, doing various programming and production work. He appeared in one of the music videos for "Gave Up", and also worked on the self-titled album by Nothing Records artist Prick.
While working with NIN he met Richard Patrick, who was then on his way out of the NIN camp. The two decided to split off and work on their own music, forming the duo Filter. He was part of Filter for its first album, Short Bus, but left in 1997. He then worked with Veruca Salt on Resolver and with Billy Corgan on TheFutureEmbrace, also going on tour with the latter.
He rejoined Filter in 2018 and, utilizing the PledgeMusic platform, the pair began working on a musical sequel to Short Bus entitled reBus. This was shelved in the wake of the PledgeMusic bankruptcy, Liesegang left Filter, and Patrick stated that he was working on another new Filter album. It was eventually released as The Algorithm in 2023 and contained two songs written with Liesegang.
Liesegang also formed the band Ashtar Command with Chris Holmes, which also makes music for film, television, commercials, video games, and more.
