He designed the iconic [[Logo History|NIN logo]], as well as most of the sleeve artwork for NIN releases from 1989 to 1997. He also served as art director more widely for [[Nothing Records]], as well as working on merch and catalog design for [[Object]]. He was succeeded as NIN Art Director art director by [[Rob Sheridan]].
Gary Talpas also appeared briefly in the the an early live NIN performance lineup. According to [[Trent Reznor]], they "needed an extra body" on stage. Even though Gary he didn't know how to play the keyboard, they had him mime playing it during the [["Pretty Hate Machine" Promotional Tour]] performances.
