Holms studied graphic design at the California Institute of the Arts and has his own firm, Studio FPO. He has worked extensively in entertainment design. One of his most famous designs is the iconic logo for the television series ''The Sopranos'', and he has done numerous movie and television posters, including the posters for ''Lost In Translation'' and ''The Sixth Sense''. He has designed logos for clients such as Apple and Gramercy Pictures. He also designs typefaces.
Holms also makes his own electronic music, and has released four full-length albums.
