Natural Born Killers: (A Soundtrack for an Oliver Stone Film) is the soundtrack to the Oliver Stone film of the same name, and was released by Interscope Records on August 23, 1994. Produced by Trent Reznor, it features three Nine Inch Nails songs, the first of which was newly recorded for the soundtrack. Tracks 10, 13, 18, 23 and 25 are assembled from various recordings from the film. In Europe, the soundtrack is alternately subtitled "(and awkwardly) titled Natural Born Killers (Music From and Inspired by Natural Born Killers - An Oliver Stone Film").
Reznor became involved when Stone approached him for permission to use a NIN song in the film and, upon seeing the film in a private screening, Reznor had the idea to create a uniquely sequenced soundtrack that was more a collage than a traditional group of songs. For the most part, Reznor did not choose the songs that were included. They were chosen by music supervisor Budd Carr in collaboration with Oliver Stone. Work on the soundtrack assembly was done while NIN was on tour, with rudimentary studio equipment set up in hotel rooms.
A 25th anniversary edition on green vinyl was released in 2019.
