{{expand}}Almost immediately after leaving [[The Jesus and Mary Chain]]'s [[Automatic Tour]], [[Nine Inch Nails]] was tapped as an opening act for [[Peter Murphy]]'s Deep Tour. They were with the tour until the end of through mid-April in 1990, though they left a few dates earlier than they were scheduled. These dates were part of the [[Pretty Hate Machine Tour]] series.

As these shows were opening sets, the stage was as basic as possible. It appears there were some intances where, in order to leave room for the headliner's gear in the background, NIN's drum kit was stage right of Reznor and the keyboard was stage left of Patrick.
