About
Aaron North was recruited as part of the live band in 2005. He has a rather unique sloppy playing style which has caused him to receive much criticism. Before joining Nine Inch Nails, he was a part of the Los Angeles based punk band The Icarus Line. He is the main character of the web comic Squires Of Dimness.
While many believe that Aaron is homosexual due to comments he makes to interviewers, he is more than likely Bisexual because he has been seen with female groupies after shows.
He was known as Aaron Icarus while he was a part of The Icarus Line.
Projects
The Icarus Line
Aaron was one of the original members of this band from Hollywood, CA and played on all their releases up until the 2004 album "Penance Soiree". After the release of that album and its subsequent touring, Aaron left to join Nine Inch Nails. The Icarus Line released one more EP before breaking up.
The Icarus Line was notoriously wild and had numerous confrontations with the law, as well as with other bands. This includes being banned from various high class L.A. clubs for drunken remarks from vocalist Joe Cardamone and destruction to venue equipment by Aaron.
During the bands early years, they were known as the "Red & Black Attack" due to their outfits. They dropped the name after releasing their first album, "Mono". They band kept the look, however. Aaron's signature look involves wearing red and black at NIN shows, with a red hankey in his back pocket.
Buddyhead
A "project of sheer boredom" of Aaron North and Travis Keller. Buddyhead is a record label that is infamous for it's gossip section that frequently features phone numbers of celebrities such as Fred Durst and Courtney Love. The gossip section also frequently slams Axl Rose of Guns & Roses fame. The members of Nine Inch Nails also receive a lot of attention, but not in a negative fashion. Buddyhead are also known for their somewhat insane antics such as spray painting "$uckin' Dick$" on the tour bus of another band and even breaking into the Interscope Records building to steal the famous Fred Durst baseball cap and selling it on eBay.
Incidents
Stevie Ray Vaughan
In 2002 during a show with The Icarus Line at the Hard Rock Cafe in Austin, Texas, Aaron smashed a protective case with a mic stand containing a guitar that belonged to Stevie Ray Vaughan. He was escorted out by security before he could plug in the guitar.
With Teeth Tour Mic-Stand Incident
In 2006, Aaron North and the rest of the band were faced with a lawsuit from a venue security guard named Mark LaVoie who claimed that North "violently and intentionally" attacked him with a mic stand. The suit was dropped.
