Talk:Letting You
I really think this song is a lot more like "Survivalism" which would explain the AIR flag in the artwork...Aeontriad
Artwork Symbolism
I wonder if the artwork symbolizes the death of the leader of the AIR movement. The flag has been turned to the side, the star removed and a trail of blood leading away for dropping down. Aeontriad
- Please also note the orientation of the emblem. If we assume that the emblem is replace the American flag, this orientation represents some sort of distress. Aeontriad
- But a flag flown to show a death or mourning would be at half mast or unflown - assuming Trent knows his flags that is Sheepdean 18:35, 20 May 2008 (PDT)
Is it the death of the Year Zero concept, at least with regards to The Slip not being part of Year Zero?
- I believe it to be "the death of ideals" of the AIR movement. Or what Trent's ideals are. Provided the song is about all the people just Letting all politicians to get away with their ways - i.e.:
"One hand upon your heart, one hand behind your back" - pretending to be all patriotic, but actually being a backstabbing bastard (with a knife held hidden behind your back) "You keep the fear intact" - creating a strong atmosphere of fear, in order to more easily manipulate people And so on.The Kiw
Live Lyrics
I've listened to Letting You on The Gift, the video from Brisbane, and from the concert in Cleveland that I went to and I'm quite sure Trent sings "One hand behind your heart / One hand behind your back" and I was just wondering if this would be something to mention in the live section of the article. At first I thought he'd just made a mistake, but since I've heard it from three different live versions I thought it may be important somehow. Kornwolf 11:29, 30 March 2010 (PDT)
- Checking the various versions I have, I agree, seems to be the live lyrics. *edits it in* sheepdean Try to speak as clearly as you can 13:20, 30 March 2010 (PDT)
