Woolley ''' (September 26, 1966 – August 15, 2016) was the touring keyboardist for [[Nine Inch Nails]] during the later [[Pretty Hate Machine]] tours (most notably [[Lollapalooza Tour|Lollapalooza]] 1991), and toured with them through most roughly half of the [[Self Destruct Touring Cycle|Self Destruct]] tour, including their [[Woodstock]] performance, before being replaced by [[Charlie Clouser]] in December 1994. He left for family reasons.
Previous to NINHe spent some time briefly in the studio with [[Trent Reznor]], Woolley was a major collaborator along with former NIN drummer [[Chris Vrenna]] and [[Danny Lohner]] during ''[[The Downward Spiral (halo)|The Downward Spiral]]'' recording but never had any known contributions that made it to Chicago band Die Warzauthe release. In 1994, just before Woolley appears in the [[Nine Inch Nails music videos|NIN hit the road, Woolley contributed heavily to Sister Machine Gun's album Torture Techniquemusic videos]] for "[[Wish (song)|Wish]]" and "[[March Of The Pigs (song)|March Of The Pigs]]".
Subsequent Prior to joining NIN , Woolley made contributions to had worked with early NIN opening act [[Related bands and artists#Die Warzau|Die Warzau albums again]], particularly 2005's Convenience albumalongside Chris Vrenna. In 1998 Years later, Woolley once again worked with Die Warzau and toured with Rob Halford's one-time band Two, which also included John5 of [[Marilyn Manson (band)|Marilyn MansonNothing Records]] fameact 2wo. With Two Woolley played live keyboards, and did quite a bit He eventually became the leader of vocals as well. After Two Woolley did some studio audio work in L.A. By 2005 Woolley had relocated to Chicago. Since 2006, he has been involved in a new band V.O.I.D., who's long awaited album is due in early 2009. James has also collaborated in the past in a minimal sense to the music of jazz group NRG Ensemble.
Woolley passed away on August 15, 2016, from injuries he sustained after falling from a ladder.
