::::Let's go by definitions given in "Body Of Work" on BYIT. Closer To God is named single there, listed as EPs are Broken, Fixed, Further Down The Spiral, Perfect Drug Versions and EDIETS. How about that?BenAkenobi 02:58, 19 July 2010 (PDT)
:::::How about "EP-length single"? It doesn't carry the name of the A-side and is still almost an hour long, I don't see how this can truly be considered a single sheepdean Try to speak as clearly as you can 03:18, 19 July 2010 (PDT)
::::::you can't apply the industry standard to one and not the other. industry standard EP length is 25 minutes. that's a no-go, sarge. and considering it calls the hour-long Further Down the Spiral an EP (it isn't), the Body of Work included on the DVDs is (technically) misleading. you can't call a 10- (or 11-) track, hourlong disc (FTDS) an EP - it just isn't. same goes for CTG and EP - it's twice as long as an EP standard, but meets all the criteria of a maxi-single except length. LP-length maxi? - seasonsinthesky 06:54, 19 July 2010 (PDT)
:::::::How about "EP (referred to as a "single" in the NIN discography).." sheepdean Try to speak as clearly as you can 07:53, 19 July 2010 (PDT)
::::::::Geez, never thought my question woould create such a controversie =S i know nothing about musical standards whatsoever, so i can't help =( Razielmxz 21:51, 20 July 2010 (PDT)
:::::::::We're called "nerds" :P.
:::::::::How does everyone feel about "EP-length single"? Single IS the wrong name, but it was technically marketed as one. Although I'm almost tempted to call it LP-length... sheepdean Try to speak as clearly as you can 05:55, 21 July 2010 (PDT)
::::::::::You're the boss, Sheepdean, but say honestly where do you find the need to invent a special name for a release which is clearly Maxi-single, no more, no less BenAkenobi 06:23, 21 July 2010 (PDT)
:::::::::::It's not a maxi-single, by definition. Basically, interscope misnamed this release, and/or made it too long. I guess we could just call it a single, it is one officially, but I just think it needs more definition due to length and original tracks. If there's a consensus for one name over another, I say we go for that, if no one can agree, we leave as is sheepdean Try to speak as clearly as you can 06:48, 21 July 2010 (PDT)
::::bringing it back over to this side, because we need to XD
::::my only other suggestion, Sheepy dear, is to call it a compilation. really, that's the most accurate term, because it IS a compilation of UK pt 1 and 2 (although i can't find release dates for the two UK singles for the life of me, so i dunno if they came out before the US version or not), and same goes for the MOTP US EP. it saves from the bitter, bloody battle over EP/maxi-/single classification, at least. - seasonsinthesky 14:03, 21 July 2010 (PDT)
:::::I like your idea maybe we can do this: create an article for the UK releases pt1 pt2 (both on the same page), call them singles and add something like "both singles were compiled into one release called Closer to God" (and a link to this page) also add a disambiguation page for the search term "Closer" The Song, The UK Single. ?? ::::::I think it's fine without extra page after i swapped the order in which versions are listed in article BenAkenobi 23:25, 21 July 2010 (PDT)
:::::::Heh, I can live with that. *waits four months until someone asks why it's a remix compilation* sheepdean Try to speak as clearly as you can 06:31, 22 July 2010 (PDT)
