It is due for a physical release began shipping in early June 2017, but was released digitally in December 2016 to those who ordered the physical product from [[nin.com]].
On December 24, 2016, [[Trent Reznor]] stated that: "When a track from Deviations says (Instrumental), that's because at some point that track had vocals on it. Those could be finished, a demo or just an outline."
Announced on December 16, 2016, ''The Fragile: Deviations 1'' contains over an hour of alternate versions, instrumental versions, and other unreleased material from ''The Fragile'' on 180 gram vinyl.
A press release announcing ''Deviations 1'' on nin.com stated:

*"La Mer" is cleaned up and removes the audio glitch found about 40 seconds in on the Apple Music version.
*"The New Flesh", while listed as (Alt) in the Apple Music version, is now called (Instrumental) in ''Deviations 1'' and is musically identical.
*"The Way Out Is Through", while listed as (Instrumental) in the Apple Music version, is now called (Alternate Version) in ''Deviations 1'' and is musically identical.
*"[[Hello, Everything Is Not OK]]" from the Apple Music release is now called "10 Miles High" (Instrumental), though it is entirely the same track.
*"Starfuckers, Inc." is about 25 seconds longer on ''Deviations 1'' with an extended outro featuring the [[Starfuckers, Inc. (song)#Starfuckers.2C_Inc._.28The_Day_The_World_Went_Away.29|KISS sample]].
