It features featured message boards, exclusive photographs, exclusive videos, and Q&A chat sessions with the band.The Spiral was started in June 2005 and featured two levels: Standard and Premium. It was shut down in 2009, but the site (located at nin-thespiral.com) has been archived [http://www.portraitofdecay.net/www.nin-thespiral.com/ here]. The Standard membership had an annual fee of US $25 and included:*A membership card*Spiral patch*Set of album lithos*Access to concert ticket pre-sales*Access to Spiral entrance at concerts*Webcasts*Photos, videos, and updates from [[Trent Reznor]]*Band chats*Spiral message board access*Spiral blog The Premium membership had an annual fee of US $55 and consisted of everything in the Standard membership plus:*A Premium-only Spiral T-shirt*NIN-related e-mail account*Early entrance to concerts at the Spiral entrance An exclusive members-only NIN show was performed on [[2006/03/31 Cabazòn, CA|March 31, 2006]] during the [[With Teeth Spring Arena Tour]]. In 2007, a message was left on the Spiral page stating:<blockquote>"after much thought and discussion, we've decided to give nin.com and the spiral a drastic overhaul/upgrade. over the next 6-7 months, we'll be preparing for the launch of the new nin.com/spiral (merged) site. we will not be accepting any new memberships during this time. the spiral will remain "as is" and all existing memberships will remain valid. be prepared"</blockquote> In 2009, a new message explaining the closing of The Spiral was posted on the homepage:<blockquote>"as of march 31st 2009, the spiral will close its doors for good. any spiral members that are interested in archiving personal content may do so before march 31st. the status of nin.com e-mail accounts will not change for the time being, but all other components of the spiral will be taken down."</blockquote>
