Ping (dead?) support Thumb creation error
http://www.ninwiki.com/Closer_To_God_%28halo%29#US -I get the error "Error creating thumbnail: sh: /usr/bin/convert: No such file or directory". This did not occur on the other page I used the same thumb command for (March of the The Pigs). Why now the problem? Vessel 12:50, 13 September 2008 (PDT)
Is there any way to have the "wp:" part not be there? It just looks kinda ugly... -Heroicraptor 00:36, 25 August 2007 (PDT)
- Well, like this. Thanks for the question, einstein ;-). --Tonyconverse! 18:26, 25 August 2007 (PDT)
- Well yeah, but I meant like could you set it up so it automatically removes the "wp:" part? -Heroicraptor 21:40, 25 August 2007 (PDT)
Thanks for the update. Fixed the Sitek remix description. I'll try not to break anything next time. - Swin

What do you think about this?
Okay good to hear. But if i have found something like all the Nine Inch Nails sites and codes and wierd things. where do i put them in? like the frontpage of NINWIKI....? Rico
It's... Tony. Go ahead and add me on the Hotline staff section.
t/y tony I've noticed you too hehe. The first few times i had forgotten the tilde trick been a while since I helped out at a wiki. thanks again. ylbissop 17:42, 22 April 2007 (PDT)

I put in the Glossary this information:
Leo3375 deleted the information, citing "Removed due to personal information concerns". And when I asked why, she further explained that when she was working on the bio for Trent and that you said that naming relatives of any band members could be seen as an invasion of privacy; which is understandable. Unfortunately, like I pointed out to Leo3775, Trent's dad's name is not a secret. In fact, it is even listed in the article of Trent Reznor on Wikipedia. It was further pointed out that if you do a Google search, the information comes right up also.
But, I did not put the information up so I could share information that is available just about anywhere. I put it up because people may hear or see the name "Michael Reznor" and I wanted to let them know that it's not only Trent's name, but it was his father's name, too. I don't plan on adding Trent's mom, sister, grandma, grandpa, or any other family member's name. So, may I reinstate the information? M.A.X. 16:45, 28 April 2007 (PDT)it's pretty much assumed that it's Trent. It's a good policy to be broad in
- People aren't really interested in Trent's dad, and if you say "Michael Reznor", our..well, in our policies. So when we say "no family", we mean "no family". His dad stays out of the wiki. --Tonyconverse! 17:15, 28 April 2007 (PDT)
Even though Trent and his Father Michael had their picture up before on the NIN.com website, and He was listed as "Michael Reznor". But whatever, guess what Trent and nin.com consider official isn't official here... Velvolver 11:02, 2 May 2008 (PDT)
I Hurt Myself Today...
Of course I know "Hurt" was written by NIN. Johnny Cash did a cover of it before he died, and it was released on the CD "IV: The Man Comes Around". Lemme find a youtube video for JC's version...
He did a fucking amazing cover...And I've yet to find a good tab that I can trans. to piano for the NIN version. R.I.P. Cash. --Electric 18:09, 28 April 2007 (PDT)
- Thanks. What instruments do you play? --Electric 18:13, 28 April 2007 (PDT)
- Hmm. I have a teacher for guitar, but I basically taught myself bass and piano. I learned drums in fourth grade. Ever tried to start up a band? It's hard as fuck. There are NO musicians in central NJ. And the ones that aren't in a band? The just want to do friggen Metallica covers. Annoying. --Electric 18:36, 28 April 2007 (PDT)
General Help With Research
Tony thanks for the correspondance! I posted this in another section but right now inorder to actually find something i need some help. Here's what I posted in the SBI discussion area
Here's one thing I've been trying to work on with my photo editing program. I think there is a possibility that some of the images that are in the background are pieces of a larger image. Has anyone checked this out besides me?
What pieces? How far have you gotten, any image upload on the chopping/putting them together progress that you've made? And don't forget to sign with four ~'s Jgrizzy89 20:07, 29 April 2007 (PDT)
Thats my bad. But if you look at the scrambled words in the background images that create the words from banned text that we've found. I think the same can be done with the pieces of images that are back there in the same way. I think theres even more there that were not seeing. Right now I'm attempting it on the SBI un-passworded site. Another is here http://anotherversionofthetruth.com/opal.htm at the bottom of the page a large purple image at the bottom matches some other things on the site. When I get something substantial I'll post it for sure but I just wanted to let everyone know so they can try it as well. Justinoverdorf 20:14, 30 April 2007 (PDT)
I just was wanting to know if there was some man power that some people would be willing to donate to see if it's something that could pan out. I say this because if you go into the source code for the pages, the background is not a singular image as it is on most pages of this simplicity, but a series of 4 to 8, maybe more than that on other larger pages. I've been working alot lately so I haven't had alot of time to test my ideas in photoshop yet but I think the background images are all the same size and if they are overlayed and then the opacity is lowered so they can all mesh... Hope to hear a response soon.Justinoverdorf 01:51, 3 May 2007 (PDT)
Could we host them here? -Heroicraptor 22:59, 11 May 2007 (PDT)
- My vote is a no. They're available elsewhere, they're better suited for elsewhere, and they'd bog down the server. --Tonyconverse! 13:15, 12 May 2007 (PDT)
Hi, men! I want to translate the ninwiki to spanish. I'm not very sure where I must write this, I suppose here is a good place. Actually, I'm studying Arts and my talents is better to draw or write stories than to translate english texts to spanish, but with some time and a good dictionary I can do a good job, and, more important, I'm sure that in the future more people will join the initiative (and sure somebody better than me!). I'm specially interested on the World of Year Zero articles; I thinks it's a very good story, and know other people that are very interest on it. But, they don't understand english and I'm bored of explain it again and again... XD Better if it's written here, no? Well, make a translate of an article is not in the edit options; could you tell what I can do? -AyozeGO
Hi there. You may add http://ninradio.wz.cz - Nine Inch Nails only internet radio to NinWiki: Friends list :) I'll put a link to NINradio site then ;)
Translate or not translate
Ok, sure I can find some people. Sure someones better than me! I don't know about the technical problems of creating a new ninwiki in spanish. Maybe also I find somebody that can do it. See you later.
Any reason why you deleted the links to my remixes? My site was down for about 5 minutes while I moved it over to a new host, but the files/songs are still available.
Haha, no I'm not the owner of MansonWiki, but I am in fact admin there. If I'm not mistaken however, Litso has already added the NinWiki to the Friends list. Now if I'M not mistaken you're the owner of NinWiki, so while I'm here, congrats on a sweet site! A lot of formatting I've done for song pages and album pages and such at MansonWiki was actually modeled after such related pages on this site, as I particularly liked the organized appearance. Rtiztik 13:40, 30 May 2007 (PDT)
- I also just wanted to notifiy you that MansonWiki has changed servers and can now be found at simply rather than . Just so at some point you could change our link in the NinWiki Friends list to reflect this. Thanks again! Rtiztik 08:47, 9 June 2007 (PDT)
- I just had an idea about Manson-related articles. Could you implement a mm:whatever link similar to the wp:whatever we already have, mostly so we don't have to have a (largely) unnecessary article on our wiki? -heroicraptor 15:50, 26 September 2007 (PDT)
Tony question for you
This whole ninwiki, is it a free speech or a controlled (anti-trent) message board?
I believe one thing Trent stood for is to speak your mind and truth from the heart. If a person has a comment whether it is about an article or someone's post then should we be allowed to do that? As long as it isn't threatening or criminal.
I have been looking through some of the comments and the ones you left in response to them and I am shaking my head.
One in particular-
The one user comment on Aaron North article. The user - who knows Aaron personally- left a legitmate response. The fact this user helped Aaron and the band before he left for NIN. He was a father figure. And now a concerned father figure.
So if the comment is just a response to the article and as long as it isn't criminal, harrasment, etc., then let us do that. Please don't comment the user by restricting their free speech by stating "No shit talk".
I am a huge fan of Trent's and met a few times. Aaron----hmmm---I rather plead the 5th Amendment. My friend sold Trent's real estate in New Orleans. And I heard a lot from Trent of what he believes. So may we honor him by letting us communicate.
You're right, it looks much better without. Thanks for the help! Strohbie 15:15, 13 July 2007 (PDT)
Wasn't 100%, but thanks!
I've gotten into this habit where if I see a username consiting of six characters of letters and numbers, I assume it's a spammer. My bad.--Leo3375 21:29, 26 July 2007 (PDT)
I've been looking through the many websites that have been springing up left right and centre, and I'm not so much confused, just interested in why EVERYTHING is dated. All the "newspapers" have dates, all e-amils have dates, everything has a date alongside it. I know it's probably to make eveerything look a little more "official" per se, but what if it does all link in to something? Has anyone looked in detail at all the dates and tried to link the people/places/events to something bigger?

New Site discovered?
BOMTOUR, www.nintourarchive.com - what about this? Is it new or fake? I think it´s real. You should add it to your wiki.
- Not every web site that has to do with Nine Inch Nails is a part of the ARG. --Tonyconverse! 12:45, 10 August 2007 (PDT)
No, I don't have those, but I have iChat. And I have Colloquy. You can also reach me via PM at ETS.--Leo3375 12:01, 22 August 2007 (PDT)
image resolutions/additional artwork
a lot of the articles have low res images, i was curious if this is for a reason or if we should replace with higher resolution images and possibly scans of the ENTIRE artwork for an album rather than just the cover.
For the noob?
hi, i relatively new to the ninwiki, so i was wondering if you could help me.
i was hoping to make an article regarding the motif on the downward spiral. it would go in depth to the meaning behind it and the different versions (from what i know, there are 4 songs that have the motif) and i was wondering if where do i go to get clearance to do so?
also, if i do get clearance (which i don't think i may), i was wondering is there any page that has the correct formating code i could follow (cuz like i said, i'm new to the whole wiki experience).
Thanks! - QueenFUBAR 12:38, 16 December 2007 (PST)
please put my site up.

The Heavens Fall?
Why isn't this listed as a nin fan site anymore?
just like you imagined
Hi Tony, was just wondering if you could add my site to the friends list? http://www.jlyi.org/ Thanks a bunch!
Ryan from nin-au.com
Hey, would you mind adding nin-au.com to the links section at all?
Cheers for adding the link, but you didn't precede it with www or http://. When the link is clicked, it doesn't actually take you to the website. If you are able to edit that, I will be grateful.
I've been looking through the articles and I keep seeing 'Coming Soon.'. Why haven't they been updated yet? I'm actually thinking of editing some of them myself. St10109ed 11:27, 28 May 2008 (PDT)

Songs from the era
How about you take an article for all of the NIN songs from the era? You know, like an organized checklist for the ultimate NIN collector, and not just from Halos. If you already have something like that, please let me know what it's called. St10109ed 12:22, 30 May 2008 (PDT)
The top bar still reads "Your source for information on Nine Inch Nails, Nine Inch Nails Ghosts"... Should we delete the "Ghosts" part and replace it with "The Slip"? --Wizfan, the man who erased the capital H 07:13, 16 June 2008 (PDT)
How you doin tony?
Thumbnails won't show
Both QueenFUBAR and I have encountered this problem when we try and post thumbnails of images. We follow the protocol correctly but instead of the thumbnail appearing, all we get is an error message saying the file doesn't exist, even though it's uploaded and linked properly.--leo3375 12:37, 24 July 2008 (PDT)
Hey, I'm still having trouble getting the thumbnails to show up properly when I know they've been entered properly, it's only happening with images uploaded or linked to since after the wiki went down for maintenance a while ago. I haven't updated the front page's featured article in ages because I can never get the thumbnails to show up properly. Maybe you could check it out? I'm really not proficient enough to know what's up with it. Thanks! --QueenFUBAR 06:25, 21 September 2008 (PDT)
Although one thumbnail issue has been resolved, thumbnails for photoblog galleries still are not showing up.--leo3375 17:20, 30 November 2008 (PST)
I'm trying to upload a photo from the photoblog but every time I am greeted with an error message. I haven't gotten this message with any other photos I've uploaded. Can you fix this?--leo3375 23:17, 25 July 2008 (PDT)
NIN on Comcast!
I was looking through Comcast's '40 Best Album Covers of All Time' and, at #16, was Year Zero! What should we do for this feat?
Hoping for a bit of help getting another discography made into a wiki
Hi Tony. I won't make this unnecessarily long, but I was hoping that in the spirit of the Wikipedia-type appearance of this site, you might be able to help me out with something. Since 1997 I have been the webmaster for the most comprehensive discography for the band Live. My collection of discography items grew to 853 releases before I started selling it last year. Basically, I have been planning to revamp the discography site for Live, and I've decided that going the route of a wiki is the best option. Furthermore, I really like the look and versatility of Wikipedia (and ninwiki), and I was hoping to start the Live discography wiki in the same style. However...I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how to install the software necessary for designing one (I've downloaded the latest version from MediaWiki, but I'm lost after that). The current Live discography I've got is being hosted on servers located in the same city I live in, and I get the impression from the literature at MediaWiki that I have to upload and install the softweare to those servers....or, am I way off?
In short, you guys here at ninwiki got this thing off to a great start, and I'm confident I will be able to create an amazing environment for the Live discography as a wiki....I just need a bit of advice or help at the beginning stages. Again, once I've got the basic framework up and I can begin editing it myself, I will require no additional help. I know it might be asking for a few minutes of your time, and for a band discography that you might not care about, but I'm asking for any direction you can give me. What exactly do I need to do to get my own wiki started?
Any help would be great. If you'd like to show the other admins and founders of ninwiki this post, I would be grateful. Swami 08:27, 24 August 2008 (PDT)
newbie with info.
i just signed up, i've listened to nin for awhile and wasnt sure if anyone had noticed that "the way out is through" has the same drum sample from "the becoming". i wanted to edit it, but i have to be a member for two days. get back at me and let me know if you hear it, also.
Cquote instead of [space]
Seeing as you're an admin of this wiki, for the lyrics, I notice that you've used spacing instead of, say, blockquoting or the a quotation template. Wouldn't you think it's cleaner with those templates, though?
By the way, please help me out with this place. I'm terribly new. :P NIИrod (talk!) 03:20, 27 October 2008 (PDT)
Yeah, I don't get it; why the following?
- Song titles should always have first letters capitalized, even with small words. For instance, Down In It would normally be formatted Down in it, but this does not look quite right and can be confusing in some cases. Here are some general guidelines:
- All First Letters Must Be Capitalized For Releases And Song Titles
- Song titles should be in "quotes", while album titles should be in italics
- Page names for songs should be Song Title, unless there is also a halo for it, in which case it should be Song Title (song)
- Page names for halos should be Song Title (halo)
- For example: With Teeth (song) and With Teeth (halo)
Same thing for categories; why does every word need to be capitalised? Same thing with section headers. NIИrod (talk!) 04:47, 27 October 2008 (PDT)
Cheers, it's no problem, I'd like to see this site be as definitive as possible, as I'm sure you would to =). And I had an idea which I keep forgetting to post - when someone links to a disambiguation page, would it be possible to send up a little dialogue/warning box before it is posted? A lot of the edits that I do are fixing those links, would make it easier and would teach people how to link to pages with alt. text. For example:
You've posted a link to a disambiguation page - did you mean to link to a song or album? Try song title or album title
You've posted a link to a disambiguation page - did you mean to link to a song or album? Click here.
Any thoughts?sheepdean 12:20, 6 December 2008 (PST)
Can we post links to the torrents on the wiki, as they are official, uploaded by TR himself, or are there no exceptions to the rule? sheepdeanis in your base killing your d00ds 13:45, 7 January 2009 (PST)
