The Walled Off Hotel
The Walled Off Hotel was composed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for use in the Walled Off Hotel, a boutique hotel and art exhibition located in the West Bank, designed by street artist and activist Banksy. The hotel operated from 2017 to 2023. Within the Piano Bar in the hotel, there is a remote controlled baby grand piano, which is described by the website as thus:
And through it all the piano plays - by itself. Our remote controlled mechanical baby grand has been programmed with a bespoke score of contemporary arrangements, plus every night it will play back a concert recorded exclusively for the hotel. We start our residency programme with 3D who presents the greatest hits of Massive Attack played with three hands. Concerts start every night from 7pm. Upcoming artists include Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, Flea and Hans Zimmer.
The album includes piano arrangements of some Nine Inch Nails songs and Reznor and Ross score pieces, as well as some original songs composed for the installation.
The official Null Corporation YouTube channel posted the track "Green Lines" shortly after the hotel opened, and the track also appeared as embedded audio on the hotel website. In 2018, ninlive.com asked Reznor and Ross about a release of the score, and they expressed pride in the work and said they hoped to release it on vinyl soon. However, the album was never released. In 2025, a Discogs user submitted an entry for a promo CD of the album (possibly used at the hotel or by the label), including a full track listing and timings, though the audio itself has not been made available anywhere.
