On September 9, 1999, Nine Inch Nails appeared on the MTV Video Music Awards at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York, New York. The band performed the title track off their upcoming album The Fragile, though they were originally slated to perform the album's second single, "We're In This Together".

- In addition to the normal Fragility lineup of Trent Reznor, Robin Finck, Danny Lohner, Charlie Clouser, and Jerome Dillon, this show was performed with two cellists and four backing vocalists.[1] Though they were intended to be a part of the Fragility tour, they were ultimately cut. Their identities are currently unknown.
