As Alive as You Need Me To Be
This is the original version. The track has an EBM feel, with synths and beats reminiscent of those used by artists such as Nitzer Ebb, an established influence on Nine Inch Nails. The chorus bassline recalls the chorus bassline of "Love Is Not Enough".
Live
"As Alive as You Need Me To Be" made its live debut on August 6, 2025.
Music Video
An official lyric video was released on July 17, 2025, alongside the digital single release.
The official music video was released on September 3, 2025. It features closeups and distorted imagery of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Sets of hands grab onto Reznor and Ross at various points. The visuals are monochrome for the first half of the video, shifting to a red hue for the second half. At points, Reznor and Ross morph into each other. The video ends with a distorted shot of Reznor and Ross in a seemingly barren landscape. This is the first proper (not live) NIN music video to feature Ross, and the first to feature Reznor since "Came Back Haunted".

Lyrics
The way it makes me feel, infection It's almost like a tongue on the back of my neck I never had a choice, connection I never had a chance to catch my breath It's eating up the space between us It's eating up all remaining doubt It's filling up the hole inside you It's trying to find a way to let itself out Give me something to believe in All these hands have got a hold of me Give me something to believe in As alive as you need me to be Always gonna go this way, there's no turning back Never any other way, there's no turning back Everything for a reason, everything for a reason Everything for a reason, everything for a reason Give me something to believe in All these hands have got a hold of me (Hold of me) Give me something to believe in As alive as you need me to be Feel, I can finally feel, I can finally feel I can finally feel this infection Feel, I can finally feel, I can finally feel I can finally feel this infection Feel I can finally feel Feel I can finally feel Feel I can finally feel Feel I can finally feel
