The Spiral was the official fan club for Nine Inch Nails. It featured message boards, exclusive photographs, exclusive videos, and Q&A chat sessions with the band. The Spiral was started in June 2005 and featured two levels: Standard and Premium. It was shut down in 2009.

Membership details

The Standard membership had an annual fee of $30 in the United States ($35 international) and included:

  • A membership card
  • Spiral patch
  • Set of album lithos
  • Access to concert ticket pre-sales
  • Access to Spiral entrance at concerts
  • Webcasts
  • Photos, videos, and updates from Trent Reznor
  • Band chats
  • Spiral message board access
  • Spiral blog

The Premium membership had an annual fee of $60 in the United States ($65 international) and consisted of everything in the Standard membership plus:

  • A Premium-only Spiral T-shirt
  • NIN-related e-mail account
  • Early entrance to concerts at the Spiral entrance

In The Spiral's second year of operation, membership prices were reduced to $25 and $55, worldwide.

Concert experiences

Members of The Spiral were given access to soundchecks on Nov. 11, 2005 and March 24, 2006, with the 2006 soundcheck also being streamed at The Spiral website.

An exclusive members-only NIN show was performed on March 31, 2006, during the With Teeth Spring Arena Tour. The soundcheck from this date was also streamed at The Spiral website.

In 2009, a new message explaining the closing of The Spiral was posted on the homepage:

as of march 31st 2009, the spiral will close its doors for good. any spiral members that are interested in archiving personal content may do so before march 31st. the status of nin.com e-mail accounts will not change for the time being, but all other components of the spiral will be taken down.
