About

"Leaving Hope" is the final song of The Fragile era, closing off Still. It is a slow-paced layered instrumental with an extended fade-out at the end.

In December 2005, Trent Reznor granted a gratis license to an advertising agency to use the song in a public service announcement to raise funds to restore and rebuild New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

Meaning

The song is speculated to be about NIN's old label, TVT Records. "Leaving Hope" was NIN's name under TVT.[1]
