"Subterraneans" is a song by David Bowie, performed live by Bowie and Nine Inch Nails frequently on the Dissonance Tour in 1995. The song was resurrected for the Cold And Black And Infinite Tour and the NIN 2022 tour.
- David Bowie - Low
- The version of this song live with NIN has never been released
When performed live with NIN, Bowie sang lyrics from his song "Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)" slowly and in his lower register instead of the album lyrics. Trent Reznor played saxophone during these performances. This song was always lead in by "Eraser" and followed by "Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)."
In 2018, a version of the song was performed during the Cold And Black And Infinite Tour, still with a saxophone, incorporating lyrics from "God Break Down The Door" and "Over And Out" into it, and notes from "The Frail" at the end.

When performed live with NIN on the Dissonance Tour, these lyrics were replaced with lines from "Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)," which always followed this song:
She had an horror of rooms she was tired you can't hide beat When I looked in her eyes they were blue but nobody home Well she could've been a killer if she didn't walk the way she do, and she do She opened strange doors that we'd never close again
During the Cold And Black And Infinite Tour, lyrics from "God Break Down The Door" and (slightly modified) lyrics from "Over And Out" were sung in a similar way as the above "Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)":
God break down the door God break down the door My time is running out I don't know what I'm waiting for
