==MeaningMiscellanea==The Joy Division original was recorded in 1979 and released as the B-side on their "Dead SoulsAtmosphere" single. It also later appeared on compilation albums such as ''Still.'' The song is often considered to be about a schizophrenic man, as evidenced by the lyric "a duel of personalities" and the other lyric "they keep calling me". In a 1993 post to the Prodigy message boards[https://www.theninhotline.com/archives/articles/display/327], Reznor stated that [[Nine Inch Nails]] would probably be contributing two songs for ''The Crow'', one being "Dead Souls" and the other being unspecified. It is unknown if this song would have been a pre-existing track or something newly recorded. In home video release commentary for ''The Crow'', producer and musical supervisor Jeff Most revealed that Nine Inch Nails were originally supposed to perform in the film instead of My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult. Trent Reznor was important to the process of getting ''The Crow'''s soundtrack to happen. Jeff Most wanted songs that were originals, or covers that would be exclusive to the soundtrack. This was highly atypical for soundtracks at the time, and Most encountered resistance from record label executives. But with Reznor's involvement secured, [[Interscope Records|Interscope]] and Atlantic signed on to release the album.[https://mashable.com/article/the-crow-soundtrack-30-anniversary]
