Rock Band is a series of music-based rhythm video games. The first game was released November 20, 2007 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles, December 18, 2007 for the PlayStation 2, and June 22, 2008 for the Nintendo Wii. The game features four different instruments peripherals to play: lead guitar, bass guitar, drums, and microphone, allowing up to four players to play simultaneously. Players must play the instruments in time with the "notes" scrolling on screen, while singers must match their vocal pitch to the pitch given on screen. The first game prompted a sequel, Rock Band 2, as well as three Track Packs.

The first Rock Band game includes the song "The Hand That Feeds" from With Teeth.

In addition to the songs on the game disc, players with an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 (and, to a lesser extent, Wii) can purchase songs through an in-game online store. These include the following Nine Inch Nails songs, purchasable as packs of three songs each, or as single tracks:

  • "March Of The Pigs" from The Downward Spiral (160 MS points/$1.99) (also available in the Rock Band Track Pack Vol. 1 for PlayStation 2 and Wii)
  • "The Perfect Drug" (160 MS points/$1.99) (also available in the Rock Band Track Pack Vol. 2)

Nine Inch Nails Pack 2 (440 MS points/$5.49), released July 22, 2008, available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

  • "Burn" (160 MS points/$1.99)
  • "Capital G" from Year Zero (160 MS points/$1.99)
